The police came, and the investigation began. They asked us questions, and we gave them the best answers we could with what we saw lingering in our minds.

The investigation lasted days, but they were unable to find out who killed Jon. They gave Jaxson the engagement ring, and allowed him to leave, but requested that I stay and asked to use King and Remy alongside their dogs to see if they could find who did it.

But alas, they came up empty-handed.

Whoever killed Jon, like the other murders, covered their tracks like no one else.

There was no traces of DNA, not even on the victim's body.

They released me, and I requested to remain anonymous once the journalists came flocking in.

And it all led up to where I was now.

"Why did you want us to come here?" Jay asked. He glanced at Andrew, who merely shrugged.

"She didn't tell me."

"I'm sure you've heard the recent news reports. A dead body found in the nearby river." I began.

"Who hasn't?" Leo scoffed.

"Tomorrow, they're revealing the identity of the body."

"So what does this have to do with Jaxson not showing up?" Leo questioned.

"Dammit, Leo. The body was Jon." That shut him up. "We found his body in the river two days ago during the storm."

"So you were walking around in the forest at night with Jaxson?" Andrew narrowed his eyes in confusion. "Why?"

"He was concerned. Apparently, Jon didn't tell him he was staying somewhere else for the night, and Jaxson's calls kept going straight to voicemail." I quietly explained. "He thought something might've happened to him, so we went out with King and Remy. They led us to the river and that's where we saw him."

"You're not telling us something." Ryan accused. "Tell us."

I glanced away, my eyes landing on King, Remy, and Chase.

"Violet?" Lily spoke up.

"I had a dream," I said after a moment.

"And?" Andrew pried, somehow knowing there was more.

"There were two wolves. An adult and a pup. The adult had blue eye while the pup had green, though both had black fur."

Andrew tilted his head in confusion.

"You haven't made the connection?" He shook his head. "Vlad and Varren," I said. "At least that's what I got from it."

"Do you have a reason for telling us that you think you saw your dead family?" Ryan asked.

"Hold on. I don't even know who 'Varren' is." Leo was frustrated.

Ignoring him, I continued. "They led me to a river and in the river was a dead body. Varren brought me a severed finger with a ring on it. When King and Remy led us to the river we found a dead body. Remy found a severed finger with a ring on it, the same finger Varren brought me in the dream." I paused for a moment. "Jaxson saw the ring and recognized it as Jon's."

"So you could've prevented this?" Leo growled.

"I never saw the engagement ring, so no, I couldn't have." I fixed a glare on him. "Maybe if I saw the ring, I could have. Besides, the body in the dream was unrecognizable."

"So next time tell us about a dream like that, okay?" I glanced at Andrew, nodding. "Preferably after you have it." Once again, I nodded. "So, anything else?"

I shook my head. "Has anyone seen Jaxson lately?"

"No, we would've known why he wasn't here." Scarlet made a valid point. "I think you're the only one who has seen him."

I hummed in acknowledgment.

"You know," Leo was unusually quiet. "Jon really made Jaxson happy. I mean...after you left he distanced himself a bit."

"After he met Jon, he smiled more. Laughed more." Lily mused. "Do you know when the funeral is?"

I shook my head. "I believe it's tomorrow, but I am not certain."

"Do you think he'll attend?" Lily asked.

"I attended my father's and Vlad's funeral, and they were horrible people," I answered. "I attended Jamie's and Varren's funeral as well, and I cared for them deeply. I wouldn't see why he wouldn't attend the funeral of the man he planned to spend the rest of his life with."

Lily nodded, accepting the answer.

The bar was fairly quiet, save for the others reminiscing about the times they shared with Jon.

Despite what I said earlier, I couldn't help but let a thought cross my mind.

It's your fault.
