Merlin
It was my first tractor ride, and to be honest it was more fun than I had expected it to be. The wind was blowing in my face, and I could automatically feel the smile forming on my lips.
Arthur told me that we had to work on the fields today, because the harvest was coming soon. I didn't know what exactly we were doing yet, but what I knew was that it was going to be a lot of work. Arthur had pointed it out at least ten times.
I looked over at his face. He was concentrated on the wheel, and the way before him, so he didn't notice.
I thought about what had happened earlier. His touch had felt so good on my skin, his body so right on mine.
And even tho I didn't want to think about it, for a moment, only for one short second, I thought that he stepped closer to me on purpose.
Something about the look on the face just kind of indicated that he had enjoyed this moment just as much as I had.
But it was probably just my wishful thinking. He was probably not even into guys, he surely had more than enough girls crushing on him, whom he bedazzled with his prince charming smile.
Just the thought of Arthur kissing another girl made me want to sit in the corner, listen to depressing music and cry.
Why was I even thinking about all this? I. Didn't. Even. Know. Him. Yet. Foolish Me.
Fully lost in my thoughts I didn't even notice the motor stopping. "Merlin you idiot, how long are you gonna wait 'til you get out of this tractor?", I heard Arthur complain.
Completely startled, I nearly jumped up: "Oh. Yes. Excuse me. I was just - um I'm um on my way" I wanted to hit my head against a wall, I always had to embarass myself. Always.
Arthur had parked the tractor next to a corn field, and explained to me that we needed to check if it was ready for harvest already, and if it was good quality.
I could manage that, it sounded pretty easy. And so, we entered the field. The corn nearly rose above my head, I couldn't see anything. I simply concentrated on staying immediately behind Arthur, while I was trying not to fall over my own feet and push the plants aside.
Suddenly Arthur stopped abruptly, and I bumped into him. "Merlin! Watch where you're going!", was the only thing I heard. I rolled my eyes. What a prick.
He grabbed my arm, and pulled me next to his side, so that he could show me what the corn needed to look like.
I didn't understand a word. But to be honest I wasn't really interested in listening. There were only three things I thought about: Firstly, that it was damn hot. Secondly, that Arthur didn't make me feel any colder. And lastly, that checking up on corn was so unnecessary. Popcorn was better anyway. The moment I thought about it, I realized that it made no sense. But whatever.
As Arthur kept on brabbling about the different forms of corn, I noticed something a few meters away from us, lying on the ground. I stepped closer to it, but I couldn't quite make out what it was until I stood directly before it.
A little bunny had collapsed on the ground. I could see that its heartbeat was racing, and it was breathing quickly and heavily. "Oh the poor thing! Arthur c'mere. Quick!", I exclaimed.
"What is it Merlin?! What are you doing, you incompetent fo-!" Arthur stopped right next to where I was kneeling.
