Arthur
I recommend listening to All Of the Stars by Ed Sheeran while reading this chapter - hope u enjoy the story:)
"Hello? Who's there?"
I stopped walking instantly when I heard a voice. I had not expected someone being here. At least not Merlin.
I decided not to answer as I was nearly there anyways, and continued to move upwards.
At the top I saw a slightly frightened Merlin, who stood there turning around himself to look in all the different directions.
I let out a small chuckle. Merlin swirled around and looked at me completely startled for a few seconds, until he realized it was me.
"Woah Arthur, you scared the hell outta me! I thought you were some bloodthirsty murderer who wanted to steal from- "
He stopped abruptly when I rose an eyebrow at him.
"Bloodthirsty murderer, Merlin? Out here?"
I then stepped closer to him and my voice deepened as I said: "Well maybe I am out here killing people, who knows. Maybe you are my next victim."I could see Merlin's eyes roll in the moonshine. "Very funny Arthur, seriously you should be a comedian. But seriously now, what are you doing out here?"
"Well I surely didn't plan on meeting you here." I scratched the back of my head nervously: "Actually, I always come here when I need to think and I don't wanna be disturbed. There's something very special 'bout this place i don't know."
Merlin looked down at his feet: "Well I'll leave if you wanna be alone, 's no prob-" Before he could finish his sentence, I grabbed his arm to stop him from turning around and leaving.
"No, no that's not what I meant at all. It's just that normally no one comes here.", I tried to explain as I realized that I was still holding on to his arm and let go awkwardly.
"But I don't mind your company.", I added quietly.
I thought I'd recognized a quick smile hush over his face, even tho it seemed a little sad. That is when I realized that Merlin himself looked sad. Even tho my vision wasn't very sharp and the lighting not the best, Merlin seemed like he had just cried: His eyes were big and if I wasn't misleaded they also were a little watery. His cheeks were burning red, and the tip of his nose appeared glowy.
"Uhhh Arthur 's everything alright?", Merlin asked tilting his head to the right and raising his brows.
I was so drunk, I hadn't even noticed that I stood before Merlin, examining every detail of his face.
For some reason, I simply started to laugh. I gotta admit it was kind of funny, Merlin being so confused by everything.
My laughing intensified and I couldn't stand on my two feet anymore and tumbled right onto Merlin's chest. He immediately grabbed me to give me support and brought me to the ground, where I lay down in the grass.
Merlin stood there, unsure of what he should do. I slightly patted the grass next to me, signalising him to lie down next to me. And that's what he did.
And then he started laughing himself. I joined in again, and we couldn't stop giggling and laughing for the next few minutes. When we finally stopped, we were lying in the grass side by side catching for breath, our heartbeats slowly steadying again.
A nice and comfortable silence followed. I turned my head upwards to observe the nightsky. Even tho I came here a lot of the times and I was used to these kinds of skies, they still didn't become less pretty.
Nothing else moved me as much as the stars in the night. I knew all of the starsigns and I could spot them anywhere.
I looked over to watch Merlin's face. The moonlight was flashing over one half of it, pointing out his beautiful blue eyes. He was watching the sky and he looked like he had never seen something like it before. He was so concentrated, he wouldn't even have noticed if I left the place. I watched him like that for a little while, until he suddenly broke the silence.
