Arthur

After the dancing, we had decided to play spin the bottle in the hayloft, and now we were all sitting in the straw, surrounding a bottle in the middle. The rules were easy: Truth, Dare or Drink.

I was a little drunk and felt all dizzy, but very happy. As it was Morgana's birthday, she was the first one to spin.

The bottle pointed towards Kate. Kate was a tall, red-haired girl, with a lot of remarkable freckles. I had met her a few times, she was from a farm near ours.

Morgana had a small crush on her since a party last year in summer. I had noticed right away. And by the longing look in her eyes, I could tell that she still felt the same way about her.

Kate raised an eyebrow and waited, like everyone else, for Morgana's question.

There was a small moment of silence until she asked: "How many people have you dated yet?"

Kate answered right away: "Easy. One boy, two girls. The last one was a girl named Rachel. We had been together for one year, until I found out that she had cheated on me multiple times. I broke up immediately."

I shot a sympathetic look at her, and then watched Morgana who seemed to feel sorry for Kate, but she couldn't hide the small smile that had formed on her face.

At least, not from me.

Kate didn't seem like she wanted to elaborate on the subject, so she quickly gave the bottle a spin.

This time, it pointed to Lancelot, who was sitting next to Gwen whose head was placed on his shoulder. They looked so in love with eachother, and even though them being happy made me happy, I couldn't help but feel a little jealous. I wished I had someone, I could be that close to. And without even realizing it, my gaze turned towards Merlin, whose face was placed in one of his hands, as he looked at Kate, waiting for her to ask something.

The question was how often he and Gwen had had sex in the last week. And of course, he drank. Lancelot would never talk about such private themes.

The game continued for a while, and I drifted off a little, getting lost in my thoughts. Until the bottle pointed at Merlin.

Leon was the one who had to ask a question or set a challenge. I knew Leon, he would go for truth.

You could see him thinking for a moment, until he smiled at Merlin and asked: "Just being curious: what's your sexuality?"

I gulped, and felt my hands turn sweaty. I was clearly nervous.

What if he was straight?

What if he wasn't?

Of course I'd already asked myself the question whether Merlin was into dudes. I had also asked myself that question.

And honestly I had no idea. I couldn't deny the fact that I had some kind of feelings for Merlin. I didn't know what they were consisted of tho. Attraction? Affection? Or was I simply intrigued by his personality?

Never before had I considered that I could possibly be bisexual. Or gay. But Merlin awakened something in me that had never been there before.

Before I could deepen my thoughts, I heard Merlin raise his voice:

"Uhm well, I'm pretty sure that I am in fact gay."

He looked down, avoiding eye contact and mumbled: "I hope that's okay with everyone."

Everyone of my friends smiled at him and answered things like "of course" and "not all of us are straight either". Merlin was immediately more comfortable and he couldn't stop himself from smiling.

I watched him and I suddenly felt like the happiest person to exist. Seeing Merlin happy and being comfortable with himself and around my friends, who I considered family, made me beam with pride. Looking at him made me feel like looking at the most beautiful sunset or a nightsky full of stars. He was so beautiful.

He suddenly looked at me, his eyes darkened a little, as if his fear suddenly returned. But when I twinkled quickly while smiling at him, he seemed to be even happier than before. He gave me a big smile, showing his perfectly white teeth.

Merlin was into boys. That meant that theoretically he could be into me.

Wow, maybe I really was bisexual. Because now that Merlin had answered the question, I was pretty sure that I liked him. Knowing that he was gay, it instantly felt easier admitting my feelings.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't even notice that the game continued.

Gwaine's voice brought me back to reality:

"Arthur...! It's your turn." Startled, i quickly turned my head towards him: "What did you say?"

Everyone laughed. Awesome.

"Stop dwelling in your fantasies about a special someone, Arthur. It's your turn.", Gwaine replied in a mocking tone.

I rolled my eyes: "Very funny, idiot. Knowing you, I surely will have to survive a stupid dare." He simply smiled.

"Take off your shirt."

I spit out my beer. "What? How drunk are you, muttonhead."

Gwaine was laughing like a fool and tried to explain his dare to me: "You, you have to take off", he paused gasping for breath, "take off your shirt until the end...the end of the game."
