5. Jay

My alarms go off at 7 am. Instead of groaning and having to literally drag myself out of bed, I jump up and get dressed in a white and black striped skirt and black triangle tank top. I was actually looking forward to school. I had art which was my favorite, other than the fact that I had to see Lucian.

"You look smiley." Mom says and kisses my head. I felt bad not being able to spend more time with her

"Yeah just in a good mood." I say and she smiles at me.

"I won't be home until early morning so don't worry when I don't come home Okay?" She asks.

"Working late?" I ask and she nods.

"Looks like I'll have the night to myself,I'm not babysitting." I say excitedly. I loved kid and babysitting but it is a lot of work.

"Do you think that it's a good idea for you to be working so much? I want you to focus on school and" she is interrupted when the doorbell rings and I get it.

Jay stands there in jeans and a black tee shirt. His hair is pushed back and his grey eyes are vibrant.

"I thought I could walk you to school." He says smiling. My heart melts. I didn't know he lived around here.

"Let me get my bag!" I tell him and run to get my bag and say goodbye to my mom.

"Athena!" Mom calls in frustration. I felt bad but I didn't want to be late.

"Text me!" I call to her. I grab my old backpack rushing to the door. I close the door behind me and he puts his arm around my shoulder.

"You live in the neighborhood ?" I ask. I felt kind of stupid asking but hey I was new around here.

"Yeah right next door actually." He says laughing.

"Oh." I say and blush, how embarrassing.

"I guess I'm kind of oblivious to my surroundings." I say laughing.

"It's fine." He told me like it was nothing. He grabbed my hand casually and I could feel my face heat up.

"You look beautiful." He says and I smile. Jay seemed so nice and genuine. I doubt he would try and pull anything on me but I guess you can never be too careful.

"Thanks you're so sweet." I tell him. We walk and have causal conversation. Lucian was so wrong about him. I doubt he even knows Jay I mean why would he judge him so quickly?

"Athena?" Jay asked. I snap out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Would you go out with me tonight?" He asked. I stopped walking and looked at him for a second.

"Like a date." He said quickly.

"I would love to." I tell him and he hugs me.

"Cool I'll get you at 6!" He says and I nod. I then realized I knew nothing about what we were doing or where we were going.

"Wait, what are we doing?" I called out.

"It's a surprise just wear something warm." He tells me and walks into school. Before I can question him he disappears in the sea of students. I see Sandy and run over to her.

"Hey." I say and she looks up and then walks down the hall. I chase after her.

"How come you're acting like I don't exist?" I ask sadly and she stops and looks at me.

"I really shouldn't be talking to you." She says looking down. Excuse me?

"What why?" I ask. If this has something to do with Lucian I am actually going to scream.
