Walking down the hallway of Yancy Academy, Castiana blew her long bangs out of her face. She knew she should cut it,but they were so much like her mother's, Diona, wavy and chocolate bangs, that everytime she was close to doing so, she would back out at the last second. It was the only thing that she had as an attachment, and she couldn't bear to lose it. She fiddled with a loose string on her dark blue shirt, lost in thought.
She sighed.
'It's been ten years. Ten years since the last time I saw mi madre.' she felt the coming of tears and looked up at the ceiling to blink them away. After trusting herself enough not to burst into tears and cause a scene, she looked down at the wood floors, her mood instantly taking a negative root.
'And I was looking forward to this trip. Wanted to see if I could any more new information on Greek mythology.'
Being so lost in her thought, Castiana didn't see the person coming her way, so they ended up colliding.
"Sor-" she began to apologize.
"Watch where you're going!" the other party shouted. Castiana recognized the voice as the school's bully: Nancy Bobofit. Seeing as she was going to continue making a scene, Castiana shot her a glare, and she immediately shut up and continued walking. She had only been there for a month, but one night of fighting off monsters, Castiana had been so tired that she had walked around carelesssly, which ended with her being caught bloodied and her clothes practiically torn everywhere. Yancy wasn't that huge of a school, so news traveled fast, and therefore everyone avoided her thinking she was part of some gang or something. Being in mostly dark clothes, hardly talking, and hardly being seen around didn't exactly help her case.
A gang. She scoffed.
As if.
People needed lives.
Whoever the hell was after her was persistant and sent many beasts, mostly minotaurs and furies. In the beginning, along with Poseidon's help, she was able to move from place to place without being caught. The last place she resided in was California. She even started to circulate the naive thought in her head that she would be able to peacefully live there since nothing came after her for two years straight, which was the longest she's been in one state since her mother, but when they did come, they came in a hefty quantity, which led her to use her other ability since Poseidon wasn't there.
Poseidon.
Castiana's heart squeezed in sorrow.
It's been five years since the last time she heard from him, and for the first time she felt utter loneliness. When her mother died, she felt pain like not other, but Poseidon, who was like a father to her, always had her back and was always by her side. The longest they were very apart since the day they met was a month or two because Zeus had been starting to get suspicious of his whereabouts. She had thought that that was what had happened, but time grew and grew until five years passed, and she finally realized that she was really alone.
A rustle came from her left, as her eyes instantly went to the detected sound to find a guy covered in trash, trying to properly get on his crutches. She debated on whether she should keep walking like everyone else seemed to be doing because he would eventually get himself up, but her conscience won, and she made her way over. Silently, she knocked trash out of his hair and out of his hoody and grabbed ahold of his right arm pulling him up. He looked up at her with chocolate brown eyes, shocked.
"You gonna stand there gawking at me, or try to get up?" The guy blinked.
"O-Oh, I-i'ma try to get up" he laughed nervously, obviously still trying to get over his shock. He hopped on his foot, pulling the crutches closer to him each time. He nodded at her. "Thanks" She gave a small, lopsided smile.
