After the girls had met the three headed dog this morning and had stayed  up too late from the sleepover last night, the girls were in no rush to get to their next class. All four of them trudged to the classroom and sat down in the back of the class, hoping that Professor Flitwick wouldn't notice them nodding off too much.

"We shouldn't have stayed up so late last night," Susan is the first one to pipe up and the three girls nod in agreement.

"It was worth it though!" Richelle chirps to her friends.

"Do you think that dog was supposed to be in that room?" Guinevere asks her friends. The girls shrug the shoulders in response. How were they supposed to know?

"Maybe after the quidditch game we could go and talk to Hagrid about it. He should know since he's the groundskeeper," Susan pipes up.

"Great idea Susy!" Rosabelle praises the young Hufflepuff. Professor Flitwick clears his throat and gains the attention of all the first years in the class. The short professor stood on a rather large pile of books in the front of his classroom and observed his students in interest. The four girls caught his eye especially. He had heard about them from the staff and most of what he heard was good things but the news was mixed up depending on which teacher you asked. Professor Flitwick waved his wand and made a feather land in front of each student.

"Today we will be covering the most basic charm spell today." Professor Flitwick began. The four girls eye the feather and don't understand what they're supposed to do with it. At this point though Rosabelle had dozed off, Guin had yawned for the fifth time, Richelle was in between falling asleep and paying attention, and Susan was halfheartedly took notes.

"You will be learning how to levitate the feather in front of you. So, everyone get your wands out." Professor Flitwick held up his wand and waited for everyone to follow suit
Susan elbowed Rosabelle to wake up. The young blonde was startled at first but grabbed her wand when she saw the rest of the class doing it.

"Now swish and flick. The spell is very simple all you need to say is Wingardium Leviosa." Professor Flitwick instructed. The class filled with a chorus of the spell and some were a butchered version of the spell due to lack of annunciation.

"Wingardium Leviosa," All four girls said in unison. Richelle's feather slowly rose up but didn't go very far. Guinevere's feather made a horrible sputtering noise and never left the desktop.

"What's wrong with this bloody feather?! It didn't even move and it acts like it's broken!" Guinevere repeated the spell but the same result happened. The red head crossed her arms and looked away from the feather. Rosabelle's feather slowly lifted off the desk and then shot straight up to the ceiling of the class where it remained. The four girls looked up at the feather curiously.

"Good job Ro!" Richelle tells her confused friend.

"Thank you Riles, but I don't know how to make it come back down," Rosabelle started while still looking at the feather that began to float around on the ceiling. Susan decided to give it a whirl but her feather never ended up leaving the desk since the four girls were distracted by one of the white feathers gracefully floated around the room.

"Well done Miss Granger!" Professor Flitwick praises the young Gryffindor. She shyly smiles as the feather continues around the classroom. A sudden explosion causes everyone to direct their attention to a young Gryffindor boy in the front row who's feather had unfortunately been burnt to a crisp. The boy's hair had been singed and his face was black.

"I think we're going to need another feather over here Professor," Harry stated as he looked at his desk partner with wide eyes. Guinevere couldn't hold back her laughter and she began to cackle away at the sight of the boy and the burnt feather.

"I'll have to tell the twins about this!" Guinevere said between laughs. Richelle eventually began laughing with her Slytherin friend while the other two stared at them.

"You two are loons," Rosabelle states.

"Why thank you Ro," Richelle responds.

"We appreciate the compliment," Guinevere chimes in. The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff just shake their heads at their friends antics. Eventually the class is let out once everyone gets their feather to levitate. Richelle got it on her second try, Guinevere on her fourth, Rosabelle on her third, and Susan eventually made it levitate for a few seconds on her seventh try. The young Hufflepuff just couldn't quite understand charms quite yet. Once they were dismissed the class dashed out of the class and made a run to the Great Hall where dinner was waiting for them.
