"What is it," I asked David, sitting on the ground. He set a Gucci bag on the floor across from me and sat down next to me.
"Open it," he said smiling.
I pulled the bag closer and looked inside it. I immediately started crying when I say a puppy Boxer in it. I pulled it out of the bag and held it into my chest.
"David," I said crying. "Is this real?"
David laughed as I looked at the dog.
"Is he mine," I asked.
"Yea," he responded.
"Seriously?"
"Oh my God. Fuck you, David."
"I'm just kidding."
"Oh my God."
As I was crying I got a FaceTime call from my mom.
"Hallo (Hello)," my mom said. "Warum weinst du? Ist alles in Ordnung? (Why are you crying? Is everything okay?)."
"David hat mir einen Boxer besorgt (David got me a Boxer.)," I responded.
"Das ist schön (Thats nice.)."
I laughed and said, "Ich muss weg (I have to go.)."
"In Ordung. Ich liebe dich. (Alright. Love you.)"
"Ich liebe dich. (Love you.)"
I hung up with my mom and turned to David.
"I told her that you got me a dog and she goes 'oh thats nice'," I laughed and David laughed along with me. We spent the next three hours playing with the puppy that we decided to call "Max."
"I have to go home David," I said. "I have an exam to study for."
"Can I play with Max a little bit more," he asked still petting the puppy.
"Yes," I sighed. "But I'll be back later to pick him up."When I got home I made my way to my room and sat at my desk ready to study. As I opened my book I heard a knock on the door. I went to it and saw Dom was standing there.
"Hey there Izzy," he said.
"What the fuck do you want Dom," I asked him, crossing my arms and leaning agains the door frame.
"Well I'm throwing a party and no party would be complete without you."
"I can't I have an exam to study for."
"Come on, please?"
"Dom I know you're not usually used to hear this word but, no!"
"Fine."
Dom walked away and I slammed the door. I marched back to my room and started to study, again. Dom's music simultaneously got louder and I huffed. I grabbed my book, laptop and keys.
I made my way to the parking garage and started my car. I texted David to let him know I was on my way to his house.
"That was a quick study session," he said when he opened the door to let me in.
"I'm not done," I said walking in. "I needed a quite place to study and I knew that you would be editing so I came over."
I sat down on the couch and started to read my textbook as David edited across from me.About two hours later Max came trotting over and poked at my leg with his head.
"I think he has to go pee," David said, looking at me.
"Can you take him," I pleaded.
"Izzy.."
"Alright. Come on Max."
I walked to the back door and he followed. I stepped out into the cool evening air and took a deep breath. I personally loved being outside. It was peaceful and nothing seemed to ever be wrong when you stepped into nature. Max went outside and instantly peed.
"Feel better," I asked him. I sat down in the grass and pulled my legs up to my chest and rested my head on my knees. Max trotted next to me and laid down. "You're a good boy."
I pet his head and watched the sun set. I watched all the colors in the sky change from yellow, to pink, to purple. I heard the door open and looked behind me. I saw David step outside and look at the sky. He came and sat next to me, pulling his own knees up to his chest.
"You're so lucky you get to see this view every day," I said, looking out over the mountain.
"Yeah," he said, looking over the mountain as well.
I laid back on the grass and looked at the stars and tried to make shapes out of them.
"This remind's me of summer at home," David said.
"Yeah," I replied, blandly. "Remember that one summer when we went to that camp and we snuck out past curfew to go down by the lake to look at the stars."
"And when we were on the dock you didn't realize that it ended and you went straight into lake."
"I swear to God there was an alligator in that lake."
"There are no alligators in Lake Michigan! It's cold."
"Prove it."
I glared at David and raced to the house to grab our phones before he could prove me wrong. As I grabbed his phone he tackled me on the couch.
"No," I shouted. "I'm not letting you prove me wrong."
"Give it up Izzy," David said reaching for his phone.
I flipped us over so I was on top now and held the phones high so he wouldn't be able to reach them.
"I'm going to win this argument Dobrik," I stated.
