Max ran over to where David and I were and started barking at us.
"Aww," I said distracted. David reached up and grabbed the phones, putting them underneath him so I couldn't get them. "Asshole!"
"I'm playing fair game," he said.
"Fine. I guess I'll just take Max and go."
"Okay."
"That's it?! Just okay? No protests?!"
"No."
I glared at David and got up. I reached out my hand for him to hand me my phone. He pulled it out from under him and gave it to me.
"Come on Max," I said picking him up and walking out the door. I unlocked the car and got in buckling Max into the passenger next to me. I started the car and drove to PetSmart.
When I got there I picked Max up out of the seat and put him into one of the carts.
"You probably need food," I said to him walking down the food aisle. "But what kind?"
I looked at Max and he looked back at me with confused eyes.
"Why can't you just tell me what kind of food you need," I asked him.
"He probably needs puppy food," a guy said. "I would suggest Natural Balance or Blue Buffalo."
I turned around and saw the absolute greenest eyes I have ever seen. This man literally, literally, looked like if Chris Hemsworth and Adam Levine had a child. He was about 6'4" and had chestnut, ducktail hair.
"Oh thank you," I said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, almost stuttering.
"Sorry if I startled you. I'm Jacob but you can call me Jake."
He stuck out my hand for me to shake.
"Isabel but you can call me Izzy," I said shaking his hand and smiling.
Jake helped me pick out stuff for Max as he picked up the stuff he needed. We laughed and got to know each other, despite being in PetSmart.
"Well this is me," I say when we reach outside and my car is right out front.
"Wait can I call my phone real quick I think I left it in the store," he said.
"Sure.."
I handed my phone over and dialed his number. After about two rings he immediately hung up and said, "Now your phone number is in my phone and mine is on yours."
"That was slick," I said smiling. "How many girls have you used it on?"
"None surprisingly. I honestly didn't know if it would work."
"Well know you know it does. For me at least."
