Chapter 13

  "What," I said sitting back in the car. David never said 'I love you' to his friends, it just wasn't his thing.

  "What," David repeated, looking up from his phone.

  "N-Nothing."

  I probably just imagined him saying it. I'm probably sleep deprived or something. I walked into the physical therapist's office and waited for my name to be called.

  I was called and was finished in two hours. I went outside and didn't see David's Tesla.

  I called David and the phone rang three times before he picked up.

  "David where are you," I shouted at him over the phone.

  "What do you mean I'm at the house," he said.

  "David I want you think really hard. Where are you supposed to be?"

  "Shit, Izzy I'm so sorry. I'll be right there."

  "David you better get here soon it's freezing."

  "I will. I will"

  I hung up and waited outside. I finally saw David pull up fifteen minutes later. I got into the car and started hitting David.

  "David, you asshole," I shouted, still hitting him. "David Dobrik, I can't believe you forgot about me."

  "Holy shit, Izzy calm down," he said ducking not to get hit.

  "Calm down?! Do not tell me to calm down. You left me here in the cold."

  "It was ten minutes!"

  "And those were ten minutes where I could have not been in the cold."

  "It's only sixty-eight degrees!"

  "Stop making excuses! Just admit that you left me here."

  "I already said I forgot you!"

  "When?"

  "On the phone!"

  "Whatever David, lets just go back to the house," I huffed, crossing my arms.

  We got home and I immediately puled Nathalie into my room. I told her about how David said 'I love you' but acted like he didn't say anything.

 "But David never says 'I love you' to anyone," she said.

  "I know," I huffed. "I mean what do I do now? Do I talk to him about what happened?"

  "I say talk to him. I mean it may make your relationship awkward but, it could also change your relationship, in a certain way. In a way you may like."

  "Nathalie, I just got into a car accident, that killed my boyfriend, I don't think I'm ready for that kind of relationship. At least not anytime soon."

  "Which is understandable. I'm sure he just said it my accident."

  "Yeah..."
