Violet

Whilst waiting for Zayn I decide to go ahead and unpack my things and settle in. I don't really have that much stuff, not like my roommate seems to have. I mentally wonder if I'm going to have someone like Emily again, which wouldn't exactly be a bad thing except I filled out my application and I was told I'd get a roommate who's interests matched my own. I just think it's unnecessary to lie to people like that, come on.

I'm just organising my bookshelf when the door opens. Thinking it's Zayn I sigh. "Took you long enough."

"Excuse me?"

The high and very much so girly British accent certainly doesn't belong to Zayn. My eyes quickly dart upwards and I see a skinny blonde standing in the doorway, dressed in a short plaid skirt and a tight white blouse that her breasts absolutely explode out of. Her long shiny hair is thrown to one side, showing one ear displaying a dazzling diamond earring, and she has a pink purse hanging off one arm. She looks as though she's just stepped out of some high fashion magazine.

"I, uh, I thought you were my boyfriend," I stammer, getting quickly to my feet. "I, uh, I-I'm sorry." I hold out my hand. "I'm Violet."

The girl just looks at me, but her stare gives no emotion. She gingerly shakes my hand. "Cara," she says. "Let me guess, you're my roommate?"

I look around. "Uh, looks like it."

She walks over to her bed and throws her purse down. "Uh-huh. Interesting."

I stand awkwardly, unsure of what to do. "Yeah..."

"So what are you majoring in, Violet?" Cara asks me.

"Chemistry?"

She looks at me and nods. "Should've guessed." She gives a twisted smile.

"Uh, yeah. What about you?"

"Beauty."

"Should've guessed," I mumble.

"Well, I guess now's the time to establish some ground rules," Cara says bluntly, sitting down at her desk and opening up her laptop.

My eyebrows knit together. "Er, ground rules?"

"I am not a morning person," she snaps. "But I'm assuming you are. All my classes start in the afternoon so do not wake me up. Under any circumstances. Unless there's, like, an emergency. Like, you know, you need a belt to wear or something."

I cough. "I.....okay?"

"I, like, also need my candles. They just perfect the atmosphere of a room. So I hope that's not a problem," she continues.

I just nod.

"I also hope you don't mind people coming over. We'll establish some kind of signal for when we need privacy in the room. If you know what I mean."

"I, uh, don't think I do," I say.

She raises a perfectly shaped eyebrow at me. "Sex. I'm talking about sex."

I almost choke on my spit at her bluntness to the word. "Oh, right. Oh. Ha. Yeah. I.....oh."

She just looks at me sideways. "Yeah... Well, I think that's it. Anything you have to say?"

I hesitate. "No?" Because it's the right answer to say.

Cara smiles. "Perfect!" Then she turns and starts tapping away on her laptop.

I take a deep breath and just nod before getting back to my unpacking. A few minutes later the door opens and Zayn stumbles in.

"Hey, beautiful," he greets.
