Violet

I wake up with a churning stomach, a deadly headache and the toxic taste of alcohol still in my mouth. And the absence of Zayn.

I groan, sitting up and stretching and trying to stop everything from spinning. It's strange, but I actually remember the events from last night. The end of the night is kind of fuzzy, but I remember parts. Like Zayn and I. I remember falling asleep in his arms, which is why I'm confused as to where he is now.

I then spy a card sitting on the bedside table. Recognising Zayn's scribbled handwriting I pick up the card and open it up.

Vi,

Hope the head's not too bad this morning, I've left you some more painkillers and water. I have a morning shift  for work but will be back this afternoon. I'll find you later.

Love you,

Zayn x

I smile. God, he's so perfect. Everything about him is just so perfect.

"Hey."

I jump about a million metres, my heart hammering out of my chest. I turn to the sudden voice and find a bright red haired boy sitting at a desk, his face covered in freckles and his huge grin revealing perfect white teeth.

"H-Hello," I stammer, pulling the covers up to try and protect myself. I thought I was the only one here..

"Sorry to startle you." He chuckles. "Violet, right?"

I just nod.

"I'm Neil, Zayn's roommate. He had to go to-"

"To work." I nod. "Yeah."

"Right, yeah. Hey, listen, you want anything to eat?" He stands up and walks over to the makeshift kitchen that's in the corner of the room. "We don't have much, but we've got some two minute noodles," he says.

I crack a small smile. "Do you have any tea?"

"Tea? Of course! How do you take it?"

"Milk and one sugar."

He nods and flicks the switch on the kettle, kick starting it to life.

"So, good night?" He asks, looking at me as he leans against the wall.

I yawn. "I guess."

He just laughs. "I was going to go, but have an assignment due unfortunately. For media. What do you take?"

"Chemistry," I reply.

"That's it?"
