A/N: When the gods speak in human form they will talk like this. I know that someone of you will have questions about the changes I made so I'll try to answer them as best as I can. Also yes, I know the song is Love Like You. If you wanna tie it to something, you can, but if not then please enjoy.

3rd Person POV

"How... H-How is he doing Enyava?" A few weeks ago, Y/N began to show signs of an odd illness. He was coughing up blood, his skin began to turn pale, and his veins were more visible than ever. At first Salem didn't know who to turn to for help, but then she remembered the old lady who helped her find Y/N. She had hoped that Enyava would provide some assistance...but that wasn't the case sadly. "Not well my dear, not well." A sigh escaped Enyava's lips as she placed her hand on Y/N's forehead. "This sickness... It isn't like anything I've encountered before."

"Is... Is he able to speak?" Enyava turned to Salem to see that she was holding Y/N's blade, just like she did with Ozma's staff. The poor girl was ready to break any moment. "Somewhat. When you left yesterday, he said your name in but a whisper." Tears slowly welled up in Salem's eyes. He was going to leave her, just like Ozma had. "T...There has to be a cure, I know there is!"

"...I'm sorry, but right now... there is nothing we can do." As Enyava left the room, Salem dropped to her knees. She was going to lose her lover... again. "P...P-Please Y/N... survive this..."

"Salem..." The blonde's eyes quickly widened.
"Y-Y/N!"
"I... I... am sorry..."
"D-Don't be. This isn't your fault."
"Be...fore I go... I..."
"Don't say that! You will get through this... You have to..." Salem's tears slowly slipped down her face.
"Don't... cry..." Salem caressed his cheek slowly, a sad smile forming on her face. "I... I love..."

"...Y/N?" The warrior's eyes seemed to stare straight into the ceiling "Y...Y-Y/N?" After not receiving an answer for a few moments, Salem's tears flowed like a river. "No... P-Please..." She placed her head on his chest, sobbing into it "Not you... anyone but you..."

Meanwhile

"What did you do?!" The God of Darkness turned his head with a smirk. Hearing the rage in his brother's voice not only brought him a small amount of joy, but it made this moment even better. "To what are you referring to?"

"That mortal, Y/N. What. Did. You. Do?!"
"I haven't done anything brother. All I've done is sat back and watch."
"You were the one who gave him the illness, weren't you!"
"It's quite possible...then again, it isn't."
"Salem will be out for us!"
"And we'll just deal with her."
"The mortal will never stop brother."
"We could simply take away her curse. A simple flick of our wrist could do it and a flick of our finger could destroy her."

The God of Light narrowed his eyes before sighing "She will be coming brother...just know that. I don't know with what...but she will." The God of Darkness shrugged and walked away "She may do as she wants, but there will be consequences. There always is."

As the following days passed, Salem began to grow an army. She knew that Y/N opposed this plan, but she didn't care anymore. He was taken from her...and she had a feeling that the gods had something to do with it. In the end, however, it didn't really matter. Her forces, or rather the kingdoms along with the rest of humanity, were destroyed in a matter of seconds. Surprisingly, this wouldn't be their end.

"Y/N, wake up." Y/N's eyes shot open as he heard an odd voice call his name. As Y/N looked around, he found himself in a white void. "Where... am I?" The warrior stood up, baffled about the area around him. "Y/N." Dropping in front of his very eyes had been a bright figure with odd...horns? "Who... Who are you?"

"I... am the being known as the God of Light."
"W...Why have you come to me?"
"I come for the sole reason that your life was ended to soon. Way too soon."
"But... But many others have fallen before I have. I... I don't-"
"Your resurrection could change everything, Y/N. After a certain incident befell on your home... I believe that you can change everything."
"How so?"
"Salem. She attempted to combat us with her own faction."
"Damn it. I told her not to do that. What... What happened after all of it?"
"Humanity...paid the price for her actions. However, your people have recently walked the planet once more."
"And... what happened to Salem?"

The God of Light stayed silent, his gaze softening "She... She isn't the woman you used to know. After your death, her state of mind... It changed for the worse."

"...What do you mean?"
"Her mind became twisted as well as her soul. I believe that you can help her become the woman you once loved." Y/N nodded.
"Right..."
"Does something trouble you?"
"What about Ozma?"
"...I spoke to him earlier-"
"Please send me back then. If anyone can help Salem, it's Ozma and I."
"Very well. Though, Ozma does have a slightly different mission. Goodbye Y/N... and may your mission to help Salem be successful."

The God of Light snapped his fingers and Y/N soon found himself in a village. "Where... Where did he put me?" As Y/N began to walk around, he noticed a few people in cages. Why were they in there? He looked closer, spotting the animalistic traits they sported. Is that why they are in there? Just because they have wings, horns, or a tail? "Why are you watching the animals? This isn't a zoo." Y/N turned his head to see a woman with a branding iron "Why are they in here?"

"Don't you see the animal horns? They're freaks."
"Having animal traits makes someone a freak? These people are... well people. They may have different traits, but they are still people nonetheless."
"Whatever you say..." The woman walked off, causing Y/N to frown. Why did this happen?

Y/N shook his head before walking away. This wasn't right. Why would the gods allow this to happen? Shouldn't they stop this from continuing? The God of Light must've kept something out of what he said. He had to be. As he continued walking, he sensed something coming from the forest, as if it were calling to him. It felt familiar...yet foreign. Quickly, he made his way down the shadowed path. What was calling to him? Before his mind could flood with even more thoughts, he froze. In front of him sat a small home that looked to be brand new and yet...so worn down. This home...it felt so... familiar...but why?

As Y/N stood there, the door opened and a pale woman in a black and red dress walked out. "Who are..." Her eyes widened and a tear slipped out from her eye "Y...Y-Y/N..." Slowly, the woman walled down the stairs, her eyes welling up "Is... Is it you... Salem?"

"Yes... Yes it is..." Salem placed her hand on Y/N's cheek as a small smile formed on her face. "How... How did this happen?"

"The pools of darkness..."
"Why? Why would you..."
"Not now Y/N. I... I just want to enjoy the fact that you're back..."

Y/N placed his forehead on Salem's, smiling softly "Whatever makes you happy Salem..."
