I tried all day to both avoid Jong-suk and try to find Taehyung. By second period I had already known he'd found out.
During our free period, me, Jungkook, Jimin, Hoseok, Jin, Namjoon, and Yoongi were at our usual spots. When me and Yoongi summed up the story to the others, they seemed unbelieving and were wide-eyed.
"So now he thinks you've betrayed him?" Jungkook asked, not quite grasping what was happening.
"Yeah," I replied with a sigh, "I don't know how I can tell him I'm sorry if I can never see him. It's as if he's drifted away, and now we're back to exactly where we've started."
"He's the black prince again." Murmured Hoseok.
"I don't understand why he's so offended," Namjoon said. "He betrayed us by completely not showing up when we needed him and for falling for such a ridiculous trick that had gotten his lover killed. All Mei did was kiss a boy that wasn't him."
Jimin and Hoseok nodded.
"Give him time," Jin said, glancing at all his brothers and his one sister. He let out a small smile. "It will cross his mind that she might have an explanation soon. He just needs to cool down."
"But that's just it, Jin," I told him frustratingly, "I don't have an excuse. I kissed him because I wanted to."
"Technically, he kissed you first." Yoongi stated.
"Whatever," I replied, "Point is, I don't have anything to tell him to comfort him in the least."
"So you really accepted Jong-suk's feelings?" Jimin asked, eyes wide.
"What the hell?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "When did I say that I accepted his feelings?"
Hoseok pulled out his phone and then handed it to me. I read the Campus Gossip and felt my heart rate pick up.
"What the hell?" I repeated with venom. "When was this posted?"
"Last night is what the info box says." Answered Hoseok, furrowing his brows as I handed him back his phone. "I didn't read it until I headed towards our spot a few minutes ago. I didn't really believe though."
"I didn't accept his feelings." I assured them. "In fact I told him the exact opposite."
"I bet Jong-suk did this to distance Taehyung from you." Yoongi said seriously. "He did that with me."
I nodded and felt anger boil inside of me.
"Why the fuck would he do something so stupid?"
"Maybe he didn't think you'd ignore him." Namjoon suggested. "Perhaps he thought that peer pressure would bring you to him."
"Ugh," I moaned, falling into the grass. "What do I do?"
"Let Taehyung know how sorry you are," Jungkook said, "Do your best to get him to listen. That's really all we could say. If he doesn't listen, then he might be back exactly where he started... alone and cruel."After all the classes had passed, I finally gave in on hoping he'd come to me.
I walked in the cold halfway across campus to his dorm, and knocked on his door.
I knocked lightly, and hesitant. It was quiet to where it could barely be heard.
However, the door flung open and I was pulled inside with a slight yelp.
The door was slammed closed and I was up against it, completely smashed between the door and Taehyung's body. The pressure was extremely tight, but his body was heated and contrasted hugely to the cold weather. I did not complain as my wrists hit the door on either side of my head and his nose just an inch from mine.
"Why?" He practically growled into my ear. His hot breath gave me shivers. My body was still trying to adjust to the sudden change in temperature.
"W-Why what?" I asked him, my voice quiet but firm against his cheek.
He looked me in the eye, his orbs completely frozen with hatred.
"You know what." He told me, "Why didn't you wait for me? I've tried my hardest to wait for you. Why is it that you couldn't do the same? All I needed was time, but I guess you never cared."
"Taehy—"
"I bet it was actually because you were only curious about what happened with me and Rasha, wasn't it? Now that you know, you want something new, don't you?"
"Taehy—"
"Don't say my name!" He interrupted again, his breathing irregular. We both went silent.
I peered back into his stone cold eyes, only to see that sadness were melting them. His breathing slowed to match mine and he glanced back at me as well. His grip on both of my wrists pulled loose and tight, as if he was deciding if I should be let go or not, if I'd harm him or not.
He suddenly bent his head down at the ground and his arms dropped to his sides, releasing mine.
He looked back up and tears were threatening to fall down his cheeks.
"Just leave."
"Not until you understand that I hadn't—"
He glared at me, which caused my mouth to close automatically, whether I wanted to or not. This was when I realized I couldn't get through to him, and I probably never would.
Knowing this, I accepted that he didn't want me anymore. I returned his glare, which came as a surprise to him.
"Alright. I'll leave." I told him. "But we're still doing that duet together. The competition is tomorrow, so be ready. You're not going to ruin Chi-Gyu's reputation just because you think you've been betrayed."
I turned and left, slamming the door closed before he could say a word.
Fine, I thought, I can get by.
My body was once again surrounded by the chilliness of the air. I let out a cough and headed back across campus.
When I was nearly to my dorm building, a piece of paper blew by. It was folded and looked like it was old. It landed right in front of my feet and, curious, decided to just read the note. How bad could it be? It could be a food ad, or perhaps a couple passing notes to each other in class.
When I unfolded it, however, I noticed it wasn't written on.
It was a picture. It was a picture of me in a red shirt as a little girl.
I was about three in the image, but that wasn't even what surprised me the most.
I recognized only one other person in the picture besides me. It was my mother. She was noticeably very young and looked as if she might have been in college or she had just left high school. We both wore matching shirts, and she looked so very happy in the picture.
But there were two other people.
A man.
Another girl.
He had thick raven hair, matching beautifully with my mother's dark brown. His eye were blue, just like mine.
Me and my mother wore red, the girl and the man wore blue. His smile was just as wide as my mother's. They looked simply beautiful together.
He had similar features to me. I could tell from the photo. It was quite obvious, honestly.
We even had matching beauty marks. One right in the center of our collar bones.
The girl had shorter hair, but that was the only difference I could tell from each other. My hair has always been long, and it was never cut that short for me. She was between the man and my mother.
I furrowed my eyebrows.
Our expressions would look identical if she were to stand next to me now, we had nearly identical features.
Was she...
My sister?
What about the man?
Was he...
My father?
