While singing, he stared into the eyes of Mei, which were heartbreaking to look at. Her eyes were filled with tears when her part broke out, and he could tell that the song had a meaning.
It was the first time he paid attention to the lyrics. Who was this for? Why was it so sad?
He stared at her the entire song, and she did the same. He searched in her eyes for an explanation, feeling weak. She did not provide it.
He didn't know how to explain it. It was as if the song applied to himself as well. Why did the song make him feel pain?
That's right.
It fit somewhere in his life... somewhere.
But where?
He searched his memory painfully.
He continued to stare into the eyes of the hurt.
It clicked.
His memories flashed before his eyes."What's your name?" He asked her.
The little girl in the church dress let out a small dimpled smile.
"Call me rose girl."He blinked a few times.
"What's your name?" She asked him.
It was his turn to smile.
"Call me yarn boy."
She giggled. When the song ended. They bowed. The crowd was in tears and cheered emotionally.
When they went backstage, he couldn't take it anymore.
He turned to Mei, who was looking down at the floor. He suddenly walked up to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. She looked up wide-eyed and he slammed her against the wall.
"Taehyung, what the hel—"
"Who are you?" He said, interrupting her.
"Call me Rose Girl." She told him.
He looked at her confused. "Why?"
"When I have a good feeling about a certain day, I wear a rose necklace." She pulled out a necklace with a small rose out from under her shirt and smiled widely. "I guess I was right about today.""What do you mean?" She asked quietly, trying to keep in her tears.
He glanced at her neck.
A tear slid from his face.A rose necklace.
The very same one.
"We are both wearing our good luck charms. So the day we meet, we will both be wearing our luck charms again. Most likely we won't ever wear it on the same day after you leave, but there has to be some time when it will happen. Once it does, then we'll know."
"Do these words sound familiar?" He asked quietly.
He leaned closer to her and gently touched his lips on her ear, his whisper raspy and desperate."Call me Yarn Boy."
She gasped.
He pulled back and removed his hands from her shoulders. He took one hand and pulled his sleeve down, revealing his wrist...
and a white yarn bracelet.
"This random girl gave me this note, she said it was for you." She handed him the folded napkin, and when he unfolded it, tears weld up in his eyes.
Dear Yarn Boy,
Found you. Seems like your prediction was true. Almost. I saw you, but you didn't see me. In fact, it seems like you gave up on me. I was wearing my rose necklace today, but I think I guessed wrongly today, don't you?
Sincerely,
Rose GirlHis memory kept coming back in flashes. Painful ones.
She had tears streaming down her face.
She gasped again and took the wrist with both her hands. She reached up with a shaky hand to pinch the bracelet between her fingers. Tears slid easily down her face as she observed it.
"T-Taehyung—"
"Are you my Rose Girl?" He asked her, his voice shaky and his heart vulnerable.
She looked up at him, her face struck with grief and relief. Finally, she nodded.
"This is my parents last day working here for this Church, we are moving to a different city." She told him sadly.
He sat up and asked, "where are you moving to?"
"Mai-Gi." She replied. "It's pretty far from here."
The boy nodded in agreement, then smiled.
"We'll just meet again there!" He concluded. He smiled through his tears and rested his head against hers. He placed his hands on her rosied cheeks.
She slid one of her hands into his hair and kept the other one wrapped around his wrist.
His next words were ones he had said so many times in his dreams. Ones he thought he'd never be able to say in reality. The three words that were kept buried in his heart.
"I found you."I'm so sorry.
