"I'm sorry... but I really can't."

Yoongi sighed, and cast his eyes downwards. "It's okay. I didn't think you would say yes anyway." But there was a small part of Yoongi that was hopeful, that thought he had a chance with Hoseok. Guess I was wrong, huh?

Hoseok saw the light immediately go out of Yoongi's whole demeanor. "N-no! Hyung! I... I like you very much too, it's just that... you don't know me. If you did you wouldn't like me at all. So I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that telling you who I am is going to break your heart way more than this rejection ever will." Hoseok grasped for the right words, despite knowing that no words would ever be enough to explain his feelings at the moment. Upset? Guilty? Angry?

Hoseok thought back to the moment in the studio, the day after Kim Taehyung was on the news. He remembered how warm he felt when Yoongi told him that despite the fact that Taehyung was born a hybrid, his feelings and emotions were just as human as everyone else's. Hoseok knew that he would be fine if he told Yoongi he was a hybrid. He just didn't know what the man would do if he found out that his lover was one.

Yoongi's eyes went wide with mild surprise, and then with concern. "But Hoseok, isn't this... you? And how could I ever not like you?"

Hoseok frowned, his eyes feeling damp. He was fighting hard to keep his tail still around his waist. "You're only saying those things because you don't know! You don't know what a big thing it is, how much it could potentially affect us!"

"Then tell me!" Yoongi exclaimed, before getting a hold of himself and lowering his voice. "If it's something you're struggling with, let me help you. But if it's just a part of you, how could I ever hate it?"

"Don't say that." Hoseok stepped back, and wrapped his arms around himself. "If you say that, you'll raise my hopes up again, and then crush them into the ground when you find out."

Yoongi was speechless. "I just..." He sighed heavily, trying to use mere words to put his feelings into frail sentences. "I just don't want you to be upset." He whispered to Hoseok's back, which was slowly getting smaller as he walked towards the edge of the cliff. When he was close enough to smell the faint scent of salt water, and feel the dampness against his face, he stopped, and sat down in the grass with his back towards Yoongi.

The elder felt helpless. What was he supposed to do now? He thought about the awkward car ride back that they still had. He needed to find a way to patch things up with Hoseok. Maybe get him to tell Yoongi what was bothering him. The way he talked made it seem like a huge secret, but there was no way it was such an enormous, life-changing secret, right? He stood up, wanting to go over to Hoseok, but then decided against it. Yoongi scuffed his feet against the grass as he made his way back to the car, and agilely climbed onto the roof of it. He laid down, and stretched one hand out upwards. He'd always liked the stars, ever since he was a child. On many sleepless nights, Yoongi would just imagine what the stars felt like, how it would feel to sweep them up in his hands and scatter them around his room. Looking at the stars again now, he was reminded of those times. At some point, he closed his eyes, and and dozed off into a light sleep.

"Yoongi hyung." Hoseok timidly called Yoongi's name, cringing at how loud he sounded compared to the silence. He tapped on Yoongi's shoulder, startling a bit when the elder shifted a little and sat up.

  "Hoseok?"

"Hyung, we should talk. I'm sorry about earlier." Hoseok looked down, his arms wrapped around his torso, and his foot kicking the ground.

Yoongi slid off the roof of his car, and Hoseok mentally prepared himself.

"So... hyung. I thought about what you said, and... some other things. And I know I was being selfish to just reject you like that without a good explanation. So, please give me a chance to explain."

Hoseok looked Yoongi straight in the eyes, and in those few short moments, Yoongi was pierced by the overflowing emotion in Hoseok's eyes. The only thing he could do was nod at what Hoseok said, and listen.

"However," Hoseok continued, "don't underestimate the weight of what I need to tell you. I would rather get it out now, than leave you feeling sad and confused. But when I tell you, just... try to stay calm, okay?"

Yoongi just nodded, though slightly baffled.

  "Are you sure, hyung?"

Yoongi, despite everything else that night, smiled gently at Hoseok. "If you're ready to tell me, then I'm ready to listen."

Hoseok fell even deeper down the "Yoongi has my heart" hole, and had to remind himself that if this went badly, this could potentially be the last time he ever spoke to Yoongi.

  "Okay." Hoseok whispered.

With trembling hands, he reached for the beanie on his head, and pulled it off. Instead of having to see Yoongi's reaction, Hoseok looked down at his own feet, and forced his cat ears to stand up straight from his head. He heard Yoongi suck in his breath quietly, but didn't receive any other reaction. Not knowing how to take it, Hoseok decided to get it over with. His tail uncoiled, and Hoseok had to lift his shirt a little to let it hang down from his waist. He couldn't help but notice that the tip of it was swinging back and forth with nervousness.

The cat hybrid wrung the hem of his shirt in his hands, and his eyes travelled upwards to look for Yoongi's reaction.

The elder couldn't stop his eyes from travelling from Hoseok's ears to his tail, and back. He wanted to touch them, just to confirm what he was seeing, but then realised that he himself would be pretty pissed if someone asked to touch his face just to see if it was real. He laughed airily. "Goddamn, Hoseok. I think... I'm so fucking whipped for you. Why is every part of you so beautiful and amazing?"

Hoseok couldn't help but laugh a bit at how everything had turned out. "Thank you hyung," He laughed - or cried. At this point, Hoseok was too tired to be aware of what his body was doing, and why did his face suddenly feel wet anyway?

Yoongi smiled the biggest and gummiest smile in the world, before pulling Hoseok into his chest. "I told you nothing could ever make me not like you, didn't I?"

Hoseok buried his face in Yoongi's shoulder. "Thank you so much, hyung- I can't even- I can't even tell you how happy the fact that you accept me makes me feel!" Hoseok wrapped his arms around Yoongi's back, relishing the feeling of Yoongi's chest against his, their hearts against each other's.

"Hoseok, can I... touch your ears?" Hoseok raised his head, and looked into Yoongi's eyes, which always looked like they contained the night sky and all its stars. Instead of answering, Hoseok took one of Yoongi's wrists in his hand, and raised it to his hair. He felt the soft touch of Yoongi's fingertips against his ears, and closed his eyes. Yoongi stroked them lightly, and the amount of care he took in making sure Hoseok felt okay reminded him of those nights more than ten years ago, when his mom would stroke his ears and sing softly until he fell asleep.

Hoseok rubbed his cheek against Yoongi's neck, and purred lightly. "Cute," He heard Yoongi mumble.

The two stayed like that for a while, Yoongi slowly processing the fact that this beautiful hybrid was now his boyfriend, and Hoseok processing the fact that despite all his flaws, Yoongi still liked him this way.

Yoongi gently lifted Hoseok's head up by the chin. "It's getting late. Let's go home, Seok." He took Hoseok's hand in his and wondered how in the world he was lucky enough to be born in the same generation as the sunshine boy known as Jung Hoseok.
