My heart was pounding as I packed my things. Not many people had the same locker area as me. In fact, there were only five others. To my luck, only two were present at school today. I could hardly breathe and felt a bit slow with my movements. What if something happened to where I was left alone?
Jungkook and Jin agreed to meet me at my locker after they finished packing. I wish they were already here. I watched as the two others left quickly. My hand reached into my backpack and slid the knife up vaguely to where I could quickly grab it if needed. It was sort of quiet, but I heard distant chatter so I knew that I wasn't alone.
I looked around every 10 seconds to make sure there wasn't anything dangerous. Was this all really happening though? Was this it? My brain was either comprehending it all or wasn't, but even I were confused. I grabbed my phone and slid it in my backpack pocket and zipped it. Once I closed my locker I saw Jin and jumped.
"You gotta stop doing that!" I said.
He shrugged, "Where's your brother?"
I looked around for a moment, "Should we go to his locker?"
"We have to be quick," Jin said.
With that, we ran down the hall. Not a teacher was stopping nor really paying attention to us. I felt like my legs were going to fall out. My heart was pumping, not exactly because of us running, but because I was worried about Jungkook. Although he was a jerk, I still loved my brother. What would I really do without him?
I heard a few screams which made me panicky. That was until we past the ones who screamed. It was girls looking at something on their phone. Why scream over some guy? I huffed as we finally started to slow down. Jungkook was filling his water bottle. I came to a full stop and frowned. He then screwed the cap on, took a sip, and looked at Jin and I with innocence.
I swung my backpack onto my shoulders so I didn't have to carry it in my hand anymore. Jin grabbed his phone, dialed a number, and then held it to his ear. I assumed he was calling his mom or something. Jungkook then put his backpack over his shoulders and slid his water bottle in the pocket. I don't understand how he wasn't freaked out or anything.
Jin got off the phone and looked at Jungkook and I. We all looked at each other as if someone knew what to do next. I knew for sure that I wasn't gonna take charge so I looked at Jin. Jungkook did, too. We watched him as he took a moment to think. Maybe he didn't think we would get this far.
"I suggest to call or text your mom," Jin said.
"On it," Jungkook grabbed his phone.
I sighed, "At least no one has spotted one of those cannibals here."
"True," Jin nodded, "But wrong."
"How?" I asked.
"Didn't you hear?" he asked, "The sewer they went into is less than a mile from here, and to my calculations they could get here twice as fast as us due to their running speed."
I stood there in shock, "I regret being born."
Jin gently hit me upside the head, "Don't say foolish things."
I frowned, "Foolish things."
Jin shook his head. I smiled in amusement. Soon after, Jungkook handed me the phone. I took it.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Honey?" my mom said, "Is everything Jungkook said true? You're pregnant?"
I glared at Jungkook, "Why did he tell you in pregnant?"
Jin looked at me with raised eyebrows. Jungkook snickered and took another sip of his water.
"No," I said, "I'm talking about the news. Did you see it?"
"Yes," she said, "Can you believe the effort they put into making that?"
I sighed, "Mom, listen. It's not fake."
"Honey," she then dropped the phone, "Who are you? Why are you in my house?"
I listened closely. What exactly was going on at her end? Had someone broken in? There were growls suddenly. I listened as my mother was in full doubt. Didn't she know that it would happen? I then heard her scream and furniture break. My mouth dropped and my heart sank. Did I just listen to her die? Over the phone?
Jungkook was in front of me snapping his fingers. I didn't blink, but still listened as I heard the sounds of eating. Could this really be happening? I shook my head as tears strolled down my face. My hand went to my mouth to cover it. Jin stared at me with a concerned look, but asked what was wrong. I ignored every noise or voice.
Jungkook grabbed the phone from my hand and listened to it. He was making puzzled faces as he was trying to figure out what exactly was going on. I slide down to my knees crying. Jin rushed over and kneeled beside me. He looked at me for a moment before hugging me. I buried my face into his chest and hugged him back. I couldn't help, but bawl.
Jungkook's expression seemed to sadden, but he didn't cry. The thing was, there were tears forming, but with a small moment of closing his eyes, those tears were gone. He turned his phone off. Then slowly slid it in his pocket. Jungkook then came over and sat beside us. It was just the three of us sitting in a now empty hallway. There was still chatter, but in the distance. Not much, but it was there.

We were walking to mine and Jungkook's house to check on our mom. Hopefully it was only a dog attack. It was a bad case, but it would be better than ate alive by a cannibalistic creature. A zombie. I clenched my fist as we walked. To my surprise, there weren't hardly anyone out. We hadn't run into the undead either. If we had, none of us would really be prepared.
I sighed with relief as I watched someone walk their dog. An old woman just smiling away. Perhaps she hasn't heard of the news nor seen it. If so, she may not have believed it either. Most people, such as my mom, didn't. I decided to grab my knife from my backpack. It would be a safer thing to do. Jungkook looked at me as if I had three heads. I only shrugged.
Everything seemed perfectly still. Nothing looked out of the normal. Just the news was the worst and our mom who may or may not be alive. It was all okay I suppose. Jin looked around suspiciously. I couldn't blame him. Soon we got to our house. The door was closed and the car was gone. What happened here? A burglary?
"Mom?" Jungkook called out as we walked in.
"Your house looks nicer than I remember," Jin looked around.
I nudged him with my elbow, "Way to be rude."
He only shrugged and proceeded to look around. Jungkook headed straight for his room and I went in mine. Looking around, I saw that my lamp and chair was knocked over. Fortunately, nothing was broken nor seemed damaged. My closet door was opened so I walked over to it to close it. As I was reaching, someone grabbed my wrist. I looked up to see Jin.
"Don't do things so carelessly," he said.
I glared at him and put my hand down, "What's shutting my closet going to do? Blow up the house?"
"No," he said, "but what if there were a zombie in there?"
"Wouldn't we hear it's groaning?" I asked.
"Yes and no," he said.
"What do you mean no?" I asked another question.
"You see," he flipped my chair back where it was supposed to and sat down, "I have a theory that not all would be noisy. Some could possibly be mute."
I nodded, "That could be a possibility, but it would be shifting around in the closet from hearing our voices. Therefore, you're wrong about that in this situation."
He squinted his eyes, "I've met my match."
"Get a room!" Jungkook said coming from the door frame.
