Chapter 16

It was very early in the morning, maybe sunrise. The house felt somewhat cold and silent. I didn't feel too tired so I walked downstairs to see if it would be colder. The downstairs air was colder and contaminated with the aftermath. I decided to go into the kitchen to check on how much food we had left.

It's been a week since Jin and I started dating. Unfortunately we haven't had the time to spend together really. I wish we could have, but there's been a mess of spectrals trying to break in. I suppose they heard us or something. That or they smell us. Taehyung and Jin have had been having so-called therapy sessions. Mostly because Taehyung was taking things hard. The realization had began to hit him.

Once I stopped looking, I ran into Jin who was behind me. Gasping, I sighed and closed my eyes. Jin softly chuckled and pulled me into a hug. It was the first time we got to spend a little peace and quiet. I hugged him back and felt warm. We rocked back and forth just enjoying each other. Not a word was spoken because it was a bit too early and even a whisper could be heard.

He kissed the top of my head and our hug ended. There were sounds of footsteps nearing. We looked at each other in curiosity. Was someone awake or was there someone outside? I held my breath so I could hear better. Assuming Jin did the same, I looked at him and then the stairway. The steps creaked slowly and Jin and I froze. Someone was coming down them. Their pace was odd, too.

Jin motioned for me to come near him so I did. We stood against the wall to where we could see who it was, but they couldn't see us unless they came closer. I was assuming it'd be Alice. She seemed to always just be around. Lately, she's been quieter. It was nice, but suspicious. Soon we saw that it was Yoongi. He had his head held low and was heading towards the door.

Yoongi opened the shade slightly and looked out. He let out a breathy sigh and closed them. Putting a hand into his pocket he pulled out his pistol and took the barrel out. Jin and I exchanged looks of concern. Yoongi tilted it over as three bullets dropped to the floor. He put the barrel back and the gun into his pocket. Yoongi finally turned towards the door and headed out it. What was he planning?

Jin tapped me and started to mouth words. I looked at him puzzled. He might have thought I knew what he was saying, but to me all it was was some kind of mumble rap or something. I mouthed what? Not that it was gonna help, but I tried. Jin smiled and sighed. He then breathed heavily to check his sound.

"Want to follow?" he whispered.

I nodded.

We followed Yoongi to the road side. He pointed his gun towards a tree and proceeded to pull the trigger. Jin mocked him with a silent bang. Yoongi turned straight around and looked at us. We were surely busted. Although we were behind trees, we may not have been hidden as well as we had thought. Or so it seemed that way. Jin peaked around the tree and waved at Yoongi. I followed quietly.

"Why are you two up this early?" he tilted his head.

"Got enough sleep," Jin shrugged.

He looked at us both, "Not another Alice and Taehyung, are we?"

"What?" I sounded shocked, "Are you calling me a-"

Jin cut me off, "No, we're not like that at all. In fact, we haven't even kissed."

Yoongi smirked and looked at me, "No kissing before marriage."

"We're married," Jin joked.

"Right," I chuckled.

"You kids and your weird minds," he yawned.

"Minji," Alice grabbed my arm, "Can we talk outside?"

I was instantly regretting her words, but I agreed anyhow. She had been a good criminalㅡor person for the past week so why not? Grabbing my knife, we headed outside. Our spot was about 80 feet away from the house in the front. That way no one could make out what we were saying, but could hear our voice if they came near us.

Alice looked fairly anxious and worried. Her eyes shifted from all angles and then at me. With a sigh she squatted down and put her hands on her head. I felt fairly confused and kind of worried. This wasn't normal for her characteristic traits that I had known of. She mumbled some words I couldn't hear and then rose to her feet.

"This is really awkward," she scratched her head, "but you're the only girl so it's not really a choice."

"What is it?" I asked.

"So I'm almost positive that I'm pregnant," Alice said lowly.

She started chewing her nails and looking at me every now and then. The only thing I did was stay quiet. Really, there wasn't anything I could say or do to make this better. However, there was only one way to make sure it was true or not. Especially during a dreadful time like this.

"We're gonna have to find a test and hope it's accurate," I sighed, "If you're pregnant, I'll help you because it's a child and must be protected."

Alice hugged me, "Thank you so much for this!"
