[Jin POV]
There was a clap of thunder that woke me straight from my slumber. I grabbed my glasses and checked the time. Currently, it was three in the morning. I wasn't dreaming at all before. Not even tonight. Something was keeping me from doing so.
I got out of bed and got onto my laptop. There was a file I saved from an online friend. The reason I hadn't checked it out yet was because it was only moment before I went to sleep. It was titled 스펙트럼 바이러스 (spectral virus). My hand slowly moved the cursor to it.
My cursor hovered it for a few moment before clicking. Something about this file made me cautious. Was there a vague meaning behind this? Probably so. He knew how to hack into things, but I didn't know if he was close to an advanced hacking skill yet. We lived on the opposite sides of South Korea.
Once the file opened, there were instructions. I had to type words in Japanese. ガバメントが立ち上がった (Govern rose up). It was strange to type them in. It was a lucky way that I had access to the instructions. What was very odd about this is that most of the writing was in Japanese. Although it was one of the languages I wanted to learn since I was younger, I didn't know much.
スペクトルウイルスが始まります (Spectral virus begins). My eyes scanned that sentence over and over. The date then popped up on the screen. 2022.3.20. I thought nothing of it at first. This could have been a prank from him. Suddenly when I clicked to type the last sentence, there were several pop-ups.
I ignored them and began to click the exit button on them. Just then, age as denied flashed upon the screen. A loud beeping noise came from my computer. Panicking, I tried to turn my computer off with the button. To my surprise it didn't work. My next option was to close it, so I did.
It only got louder. My eyes scanned the room quickly. There had to be something that could stop this ear piercing noise. Then it hit me. I had to break my computer. Although I didn't want to, it was my only choice left. I grabbed a book from the shelf and swung, but stopped dead in my tracks when my door opened.
"Kim SeokJin!" my mom yelled, "What are you doing?"
"I need to stop this high pitched beeping," I explained.
"What beeping?" she raised an eyebrow.
I lowered the book and realized it was my own thoughts echoing the sound. What kind of trick was this? Did the sound of the beeping wake her up or was it me bumping around in my room? Whichever, I had no excuse to as of what I was talking about. It was very early in the morning so I decided to brush it off.
"Nevermind," I put the book down gently.
"Get to bed," she closed the door.
As she closed the door, I sighed. Staring at the door knob for a few moments, I got back into bed and laid down. It was cold and soft. Just the right way to sleep anyway. I swear I heard the beeping go off again, but I ignored it. Closing my eyes, I drifted off to sleep. It was nice and dark.
