Chapter Two

Once again I had no idea where my courage was coming from, but a flame ignited inside of me. No man is going to tell me what to do. "No. I refuse to kneel to some big shot who thinks he can just take whatever he wants. I'd hate to break it to you, but you've already tried taking over Earth and well, let's just think back on how that worked out shall we? Oh that's right! You lost. And you're just going to keep losing everytime you come here, because this world fights back. So if you try to take over our planet, I guarantee the Avengers or someone will fight back and stop you." I continued to glare at Loki and stood with my arms crossed, my weight shifted to my other foot that wasn't throbbing. I felt triumphant and had confidence coursing through my veins, but as Loki stepped closer to me with his face inches from mine it slowly shrank away back inside the pit of my stomach. "You dare threaten me?" he growled. Inside I was shaking with fear but I didn't want him to see that so instead I just continued staring. My breath caught as he inched closer to me, but I didn't dare move. I stared into his eyes, suddenly lost in the sight of them. The eery glow was mesmerizing and bringing me closer to look deeper inside. I felt a pull deep inside of me and for a moment, Loki's eyes softened slightly. My fear melted away and I felt a comfort in the cold air around me. Loki and I were too caught up in ourselves to notice that someone else came and landed with a loud thud behind us. We both turned sharply towards the noise, Loki spinning around abruptly noticing another God that had landed. With the moment gone I was left with a lot of confusion and my fear came back faster than a cheetah.

"BROTHER! LET THE WOMAN GO!" yelled a booming voice. I peered around Loki and found that the mighty Thor had arrived. I guess Loki was just bluffing with him 'taking care' of the Avengers. "LOKI LET GO OF THE WOMAN AND WE CAN TAKE YOU BACK TO ASGARD THE EASY WAY, OR THE HARD WAY" Loki grabbed my arm and pulled me forward, his staff pressed roughly against my throat. "Oh brother you don't think I'm just going to leave are you? I came to be a king Thor and I will rule. Come another step closer and she's dead" I froze and silently prayed for my life as the cool metal dug deeper into my skin. Well I guess I must have either made up that entire moment in m head, or Loki was just crazy. Thor put his hands up in surrender and said quietly "Loki you don't have to do this. Just give me the girl and leave. I won't even make you go back to Asgard. You just have to leave and never return." Thor stepped closer and Loki pressed the staff harder. I could feel the staff pulsing with energy getting ready to kill me. "Oh Thor must you always need a demonstration to learn your lesson? Where is your precious team?" Thor faltered for a moment, looking for an answer. He sighed in defeat and answered "I do not know Loki, all I know is an innocent girl does not need to pay for our rivalry". Loki chuckled and pressed the staff so deep it drew warm blood that trickled down my neck. "Well brother it seems yet again you are wrong. Your team cannot save her now..."

"Wait!" I screamed staring wildly up at Loki. He glanced down at me curiously and smiled darkly "What is it mortal? Will you now kneel before me like the rest?" "No.. But I want to make a deal with you" I stood up tall and looked around me and watched as people lifted their heads in curiosity and I saw Thor too stunned at my outburst to even move. He really wasn't the most intelligent brother thats for sure. Loki cocked his head to the side with an amused expression "Very well then what is your deal mortal?" I faced him entirely, my foot still throbbing and Loki still loosely holding my arm.  "Take me instead. Take me to wherever you came from and leave Earth alone. Never return to it. Never try to rule it again. I do not want my world to face all the death and devastation from the last fight. We are still trying to recover from your last fight. I will not fight you and all i ask is that you leave Earth alone." I had tears threatening to shed, but I held them back determined to stay strong. As Loki heard my bargain he began to think deeply in thought. He lowered his staff and I sighed in relief. My neck was cut but the pain was nothing felt to the desperation and depression sinking in from my deal.  "No! Stop! You foolish human you do not have to do this! I can handle my brother do not go about making deals with him! He is the God of Mischief he will trick you!" Thor's booming voice made me turn but Loki held up a single finger to Thor, silencing him. Loki grabbed my wrist tighter, his electric eyes looking at me like some sort of puzzle. "You would risk your life for your entire world? For your enemies and humans you don't even know?" his eyes searched my face, waiting for an answer. I nodded. "Always".
