"can't go back now, the way you look bringing me back down."
HIS SIDE
I sat behind the wheel of my car, staring out the window at the two of them. Officer Wesley Saunders throwing a football around with Jameson.
Causing this feeling to sweep through me, making my chest tighten because the smile on his face was wide, making me realize he wasn't suffering.
He looked to be enjoying himself, and I knew this one officer would be the right one to protect him. At least for now.
Grumbling, I pulled away from the curb and sped down the street, onto one of the back roads. Knowing I had to go unseen around here.
To most I was a ghost, a shadow moving amongst people. No one ever got close to me, I didn't let it happen because I knew the outcome.
I lose everyone I love, so why bother loving?
Everything messing with my head lately, my mind a wreck. My nephew was alive and stuck in protective care, my fiancé was murdered in front of me.
And the list of people I can trust was very limited, involving only close people, and that chaotic Detecrive.
My eyebrows knitted forward and I pulled the car over quickly, checking my phone and realizing it's been two days since I last seen her.
Usually she would be out and about, or I'd find her in trouble but she's been completely silent.
I grabbed my laptop from the passenger seat and opened it up, searching up her phone records quickly, a small panic setting in.
A scowl resting on my lips, I shouldn't be worried over some stupid detective. But it was hard not to worry about Detective Hayley.
She was a mess, always getting herself into ridiculous situations that she can't get out of.
Not seeing or hearing from her in the last two days was odd, even though I was nothing more than I stranger to her.
A man who showed up and made sure she was still alive, because for some reason Ace had a soft spot for the detective.
I brought a hand down my face and seen the last call she made was to Ace, but they never connected. Chewing my bottom lip, I search through her texts but find nothing.
She couldn't have just gone ghost.
I search her location, thankful to see her phone was on but when I seen where she was, my stomach churned.
What the hell was she doing out in the city?
I slammed my fist against the steering wheel and grabbed my cellphone, calling Ace quickly.
"What's up?" He questions, answering on the second ring.
"The detectives missing I think, out in the city. She's been gone for the last two days." I snapped out.
