"I can hear the past, screaming at me every step I take further away."

HE FOLLOWS THE LIGHT

I stood there leaning against a wall, watching as they all moved around the room like chickens with their heads chopped off.

Spade sat in front of two laptops, her fingers flying back and forth across both keyboards. A look of determination crossing her face as her friend leaned back in a chair.

Sitting next to Spade was Carrie Wilson, a close friend and hacker of Spades. Both John and Ace were yelling at each other while Corey slumped down on the couch.

Dragging his hands down his face, closing his eyes as the yelling continued. Grabbing a beer and chugging it back, when his eyes caught mine.

"You good?" He grunted, raising an eyebrow at me.

Shrugging, I pushed myself off the wall and walked towards him, grabbing a beer from the fridge, opening it up and sipping it down.

My eyes narrowed, because I was perfectly fine - expect for being furious and sent over the edge.

Needing to find a way to get the Detective out of prison, knowing there was no way she'd kill her fellow officers.

But whoever pinned it on her made it look solid, meaning there had to be a Clyde behind it, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was a man working on the inside.

Never being able to trust the cops.

"Just need to get her out of there." I grumbled out, finishing my beer before grabbing another.

Sparking up a cigarette while he watched me closely, his eyebrows knitting forward, "Do you care about the detective?" He questioned.

Everyone in the room falling silent around us as I scowled over at them, clenching my jaw to keep from snapping out, "It doesn't matter." I replied lowly.

My fingers curling around the beer bottles, my heart racing and fingers ticking. Didn't like being asked personal questions, they all knew that yet persisted on doing it anyway.

I didn't care about much, not having much family. But I would always keep the Jefferson family, including John Alive. They've saved my ass multiple times.

Have I shown them my appreciation?

Absolutely not, but they still stuck around.

I had to keep Jameson safe at all costs, knowing that I couldn't lose him. The last member of my family.

Then came the Detective, a reckless over caring person who never knew when to give up.

I didn't expect for any of this to happen, for her to come crashing into my life, not making any move to leave.

She stayed, for a reason I'll never understand.

But I needed her, in order to get to the Clyde family, knowing I had to do it safety, not being able to risk her life.

That was to great of a risk to take.

We couldn't lose her, she's the one calling the shots even though she may say otherwise. We all may be insane killers, and criminals but we were all waiting for her command.

"He does, he'll just never admit it to himself because that's what makes it all the more real." Carrie piped in, spinning around in her chair.

Holding the I pad in her hand while leaning forward, catching my glare.
