"A monster walking amongst the men."
The town wasn't small, but wasn't all that big. It was however beautiful, with a twisted and gruesome background.
Five years ago bodies started appearing, raising panic when the city released their first newspaper article, naming the killer - the night hunter.
A man who walked amongst everyone, going on a killing spree for an entire four months before the police started to catch on to what was happening.
The newspaper received plenty of backlash for naming a psychopathic murderer. Which wasn't a surprise to me, that's the one thing the media shouldn't do, is going around naming killers.
It only gives them more attention and some live for that.
The article that was in this mornings newspaper was about two unidentified bodies found just outside an abandoned school. The two girls, believed to be in their twenties were found brutally beaten with their necks slit.
Both of their faces being badly mutilated, before being dumped in the rusted away play ground.
After doing some more digging I found in some police reports that the bodies were deemed to of been there for around 2 to 3 months prior to being found.
Five years later and the police still didn't even have a good theory on who the killer could be, no one had seen anything. All the murders happening late at night, which is why they decided Night Hunter would be a fitting name.
"Hayley Samuels?" He says softly, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Always going into a small state of reality loss.
Realizing where I was and why I was there, standing on this strangers front door step acting like a psycho.
I nodded my head slowly, "You know me?" I whispered out, frowning at him.
He smiled before pulling the door open wider, letting me step in before closing it behind us. I stood there chewing the inside of my cheek, hiding my shaking hands behind my back.
"Everything, I wanted to learn everything I could about the only family I had left." The man answered and I felt my heart stop in my chest.
I cleared my throat, sighing out deeply, "I just learned about you, I never knew you existed." I answered quietly, I couldn't help but stare at him.
He definitely looked like my father, which scared me a bit. Because I still had at least one family member left.
"Mason!" Dean shouted, not even seconds later I hear footsteps coming our way.
Another tall man walking into the room with two small children walking behind him, a boy and a girl.
"Dada!" The little girl squealed, running over to Dean and wrapping her small arms around his legs.
He swoops her up in his arms and tickles her stomach while grinning over at me, "Mason, you know how I've talked about Hayley Samuels right?" Dean drawls out.
The Mason guy nodded his head, his lips tilting up into a small smile, "Your half sister, yeah, why?" Was his reply.
I felt my cheeks burn in embarrassment as I stood there quietly, "This is Hayley," He whispers before meeting my eyes, "Hayley, this is my husband Mason, and our kids Caden and Clarke." He says, causing my heart to race.
