"It was easier leaving everything behind, pretending nothing happened. But things never change."
I woke up to shouting, having someone move me roughly around, causing my eyes to snap open.
Sunlight seeping in through a window, the room filled with officers, all standing there with their guns pointed at me.
"What the hell is going on?" I croaked out, squinting my eyes.
My eyes wandering around the room, really taking in my surroundings and when I did my stomach churned uneasily.
I kneeled there on the floor, in nothing but a large white t shirt soaked in blood, my hands and arms covered in it, causing my heart to nearly give out.
No recollection of the last few hours.
Two dead officers lied on the hotel room floor, their blood splattered across the wall. I could hear them all whispering, the men out in the hall talking to each other.
"My names Hayley Smith, I work-"
"I know who you are Hayley," One of the men say, picking me up from the floor.
He places my hands behind my back before cuffing me up, reading me off my Rights while moving me outside.
Walking me down the hallway, heading out to a waiting police car. He puts me in the back seat and closes the door before walking off with another officer.
I sat there, staring down at my blood stained hands while rocking back and forth, trying to make sense of what was going on but I couldn't.
Nothing coming to my brain when I thought about last night and where I was, what I was doing.
An officer slid in behind the wheel, starting the car up before pulling off and heading towards the station, all the whole remaining silent.
Never once glancing back at me, causing my anxiety to rise more, because I didn't have any idea on how I got to that hotel room, why those officers were dead and how I was covered in their blood.
I know I didn't kill them.
I closed my eyes, holding my head in my hands for the remainder of the drive. Letting him drag me out once we finally got to the station.
Where Mendes was waiting, his eyes widening when he first took in my appearance.
"I didn't do it." I choked out, tears growing in my eyes as I passed him, the men dragging me out back.
They left me with a female officer, letting me shower and change clothing, before putting me in one of the holding cells. Throwing a blanket at me before leaving.
I sat there rocking back and forth, holding my shaky hands in my lap, chewing my bottom lip to keep from mumbling out.
My head aching, the room spinning around me when I hear footsteps approaching me, causing my heart to stammer in my chest.
I sucked in a deep breath, eyes widening when they landed on Mendes and Gordon. The last two people I would've ever expected to see.
Mendes was my partner whenever there wasn't anybody left and Zander Gordon was basically the only genius around. Being incredible when it came to computers and finding information.
I rose an eyebrow at them when Mendes began smirking at me, "How do things like this always happen to you?" He drawls out.
"I guess you could say I'm quite gifted." I shot back sarcastically, leaning against the wall, bringing the blanket up over my body.
