there was a starbucks y/n went to all the time to just read or sketch. she was always there because she didn't like the coffee shop across her apartment and the next coffee shop was another 30 minute commute and she was too lazy to do that. taeyong was the barista there, she quickly made friends with him because he's also a fan of ghibli movies. she found this out after taeyong complimented her drawing of a scene from ocean waves. ever since then, whenever y/n came in, taeyong would whip up her favorite drink even without her telling him, she'd just leave her payment at the counter and wait for her drink.
taeyong's roommate, yuta, suddenly came barging in just as y/n left to find a seat after claiming her drink. he rarely goes to starbucks because he said there's no point of having a barista friend if he won't get a discount anyway. this was a joke ofcourse, yuta just wasn't a coffee person but that quickly changed when he saw a pretty girl reading a book by the window.
"pretty." yuta mumbled as he was standing by the counter while taeyong was wiping it.
"who?" taeyong asked looking around.
"the girl holding a red book." yuta whispered.
"oh,y/n?yeah...but don't even think about it." taeyong warned.
"why?you called dibs on her or something?" yuta raised an eyebrow.
"no,she's not interested in boys i'm gonna tell you that right now,and no i don't like her that way. she reminds me of my older sister too much." taeyong said.
"so...she's a lesbian?" yuta asked.
"i don't know. i didn't ask....but i've seen guys try to hit on her or something, she'd just stand up and leave." taeyong said then went back to wiping spilled coffee on the counter.
"maybe she won't stand up and leave if it was me." yuta said with a sly smirk.
"shoot your shot then." taeyong said.
yuta walked over to y/n's table confident that he will be able to get her number.
"hi!" he said. y/n just glanced up from her book. she couldn't hear what he was saying cause she had earphones on which yuta didn't notice. she wasn't interested on talking to anyone anyway so she didn't bother to take them off.
"i'm curious about your book but i'm curious about you too. i-"
y/n just stood up,grabbed her things then left. usually, she stands up and leaves because she finds men annoying, but the moment she glanced up and saw yuta she knew she was in trouble. there are only two men y/n found attractive, one is taeyong but she doesn't like him as anything more than a friend, and the other is Lloyd dobler from say anything. she won't say john cusack because he's old now and she just likes the character. when she saw yuta, her heartbeat rose in an exponential rate, worried that he might laugh at her blushing she rushed out before yuta could finish his sentence.
when she got out the door she immediately felt relief, the cold breeze warmed up her hot cheeks. she didn't want to admit it to herself but she has a crush on that guy. part of her wanted to see him again and another part never wanted to seem again, concerned that she might fall head over heels with him if she stared at his eyes long enough.
"i told you." taeyong said while brewing a cup of coffee then chuckled.
"whatever,i'm gonna try everyday if i have to." yuta said, his determined tone surprising taeyong.
"are you just bored or are you really interested?" taeyong asked putting one hand to his hip?
"bro you know i'm never bored." yuta said while leaning on the counter.
