There he was.
Looking like a lost little lamb. It seems like he can't find his classroom. Understandable for a freshman at college. You were lost too if you we're going to be completely honest, so seeing Mark Lee in the flesh after so long sent a wave of relief down your body despite not having any contact with each other since you both were kids.
"Mark Lee!" You called him. He quickly turned to where he heard the voice and squinted. You walked closer to him.
"Oh h-hey...you..." he trailed off. He can't seem to remember you and you were so embarrassed that you swear your tiny earrings were starting to melt because of the heat rising to your ears.
Not knowing what to do you just nodded then looked down and decided to just keep looking for your classroom. As you were about to walk away you felt a hand grab your wrist. Long fingers wrapping around them rather tightly.
"Y/n! Oh my gosh i'm so sorry i couldn't remember you right away aaahhh!! jinjja, this is so embarrassing!" He kept blabbering and you couldn't help but smile. Mark Lee was still the same loud, awkward, and cute kid.
"Oiii y/n's all grown up now!" He teased. "I knew it was you when your ears turned red."
and right on cue your ears were starting to turn red again. "Yah! you basically forgot everything about me except that one?" you covered your ears.
"Well yeah..." He mumbled something after that you couldn't hear.
"what'd you say?" you took your hands off your ears. what you didn't hear was that he said you were cute.
"Oh nothing!" He quickly changes the topic. "Hey would you happen to know where AS-103 is?" He shows you his list of classes with corresponding room assignments.
"Hey Mark, why do we have the same schedule?" you ask him.
"Oh really? What course are you taking?"
"Entrepreneurship." You say.
"I see you're still pursuing your dream." He smiles at you.
"And you're not though..." you trail off, realizing what you just said.
"Oh that. uhm, it's ok I guess. Fine arts doesn't really fit with our family business so..." He scratches the back of his head.
"Let's just find our room." You say, you notice that he's a little sad now.
"Where should we eat though? I hope they serve watermelon slices here." Mark says as your two were heading out of class.
"You're still obsessed over watermelon?" You laugh at him.
"I'll probably never get over it." He starts laughing too.You start to notice a few things that changed about Mark Lee. He's way taller than you now, has muscle definition around his arms, Jaw looks more defined, Head bigger than usual. It's surprising how deep his voice got now. He's matured so much physically but he's still the same goofy dude. It's weird, you wonder how he's so awkward yet so easy to be around. Mark Lee is the cutest but at the same time he's also the coolest. You don't doubt that he'll get popular in just a few months.
"Yo, you should give me your number." He says then hands you his jurassic android phone.
"Mark Lee, i bet you had this phone since freshman highschool." You smile at him.
"Oh yeah how'd you know?" He flashes a huge grin. Big round eyes perking up about what you just said."Just a guess." You say then proceed eating. He got extra watermelon slices for you.
"Sweet, i'm so glad they have this here." He says before devouring his."Oh you should text me right now i'm sure i'll forget to save yours." You say.
"okay okaaay." he says while typing on his phone.hello y/n it's mark lee ^_^
you smile at the message he sent.
"Hey what'd you save me as?" He asks.
"Just Mark Lee." you tell him."That's too boring you gotta add something else here let me." he grabs your phone from his hand.
"Ahhhh jinjja you literally meant "just mark lee" that's really clever i'll give you that." He says while laughing.
Time skip to 2nd quarter or the school year
You and Mark have your own set of friends now. Ofcourse you're close with each other, you're just not together all the time unlike the beginning of this school year. You both breaks and studying with different people now.
And now you think Mark Lee might be getting a girlfriend pretty soon. It was inevitable for Mark Lee, you thought. He's probably the most charming guy in this class. Who wouldn't want to be with him?
You refuse to admit it to yourself. You like Mark Lee...
...but he seems to like someone else.
What you didn't know was that Mark Lee had also been feeling confused about his feelings for you. You two drifting apart a little was somehow a blessing in disguise for him. He doesn't think you like him like that, so he doesn't want to be around you cause he might do something stupid like ask you to share a watermelon smoothie with him with two straws and you both stare into each other's eyes or some other stupid shit like that.
He thinks you're a watermelon. Something that he craves all the time but it isn't always available.
Mark Lee has been ever so oblivious to the girls swooning around him. He can't help but look only for you so he easily feels jealous when a male classmate of yours was so eager to partner up with y/n in biology, even asking her original partner to switch with him for free lunch on him for 2 weeks.
He turns away, not wanting to see if you we're happy to be that guy's partner and not his.
