Eunjin’s POV

We heard footsteps coming from the stairs. A man was saying, “Did you hide the corpse well?” The other man said yes. This doesn’t sound good. Taemin pulled me to the furthest corner and we hid behind a big crate. My heart was pounding from fear.

“The goods will be arriving tomorrow.” The man who seemed to be the leader said. I took a peak from the hole between the crate and the wall. I saw the men’s face and they really look scary. One man was holding a lamp that could illuminate the entire rooftop. I suddenly appreciate the darkness more. “Please don’t let them see us,” I kept repeating the same words inside my head.

“Make sure everything goes well.” The leader said again. They are probably planning something illegal.

“Neh, hyungnim.”

“Now, where did you put those guns?”

“Over here.” The footsteps came closer and I had a sudden realization that the crates where we choose to hide actually holds the guns the men were talking about. As the footsteps came nearer, the fear inside me triples. The only thing that keeps me from screaming is Teamin’s hand over my mouth.

Taemin was desperately trying to look for another place to hide but there was none. We’re going to get caught. “Please… don’t let them see us,” I prayed again but it was useless. The footsteps are coming closer and closer and we don’t have anywhere else to hide.

“Yah! There are kids here!” The man finally noticed us. We have the element of surprise on our side and Taemin put it into good use. He was holding a bottle of mineral water and before the man could react, he splashed all its contents on the man’s face.

“Run eunjin-ah!” Taemin said. I sprinted towards the exit but another man was blocking our way.

I looked back and saw Taemin running towards me. In an instant the man caught up with him but Taemin gave him a punch. It was a pretty strong punch which drove the man on his knees. He didn’t expect the blow and was now curled up on the floor due to the pain.

“You little son of a-“ he cursed.

Taemin managed to run to my side only to be faced by another man who was blocking the way. The man seems to be much stronger than the first. He grabbed my arm in a harsh way. Taemin got really pissed and started attacking the man by giving him punches. But he was too strong even for Taemin. The man punched him hard across the face and he fell back on the floor.

“Taemin!” I gave out an ear-piercing scream before the man managed to shut me up but putting his hand over my mouth. I tried to struggle but it didn’t do much. The man was strong.

“Shut up bitch.” He said

Taemin was still on the floor groaning. “Please… let her go.” He begged. I was already crying and tears were streaming down my face. It was entirely my fault. If it wasn’t for me this wouldn’t have happened.

The other man who was previously crying in pain after Taemin knocked him out is now back on his feet. He came closer to Taemin and pulled him up to his feet only to give him another blow. “This is for earlier.” He said before giving Taemin another strike. He fell on his knees, doubled back in pain, and started coughing up blood. One blow was followed by another one. I couldn’t stand by and watch anymore. I was already crying harder and Taemin kept begging the men to let me go but all we got are laughter and snickers.

“Enough.” The leader who pretty much didn’t do anything said, “Finish them off. They probably heard everything so we can’t just let them go.”

The man who was beating Taemin took out his gun and aimed it at the almost unconscious Taemin. I hate myself for being so useless. I kept struggling and somehow I managed to break free. I ran towards Taemin but before I managed to reach his side the gun went off. I stopped, frozen in shock and before I knew it I was falling on the floor and the love of my life dying right in front of eyes was the last thing I remember before everything went completely dark.
