Taemin’s POV
After the incident I was brought to the nearest hospital. The first thing I saw when I woke up was my mum sitting beside me with a worried expression on her face. “How are you feeling?” she asked.
“I’m fine,” I managed to say. I have a burning sensation on the side and it’s hurting like hell but other than that I guess I’m fine. I’m still in one piece.
“How about Eunjin? How is she?” I asked my mom. The last thing I remembered, she suddenly fainted after she saw me being shot. I’m suddenly filled with worry that if I don’t get the answers soon, I might just bolt out of the room and search for Eunjin myself.
“She's fine. She's in a different room." Although my mom assured me she's alright I just had to see her myself. When I told my mom I wanted to see Eunjin she was totally against the idea and I completely understand. Under the current state I’m in I guess even walking will be difficult. My mom told me I had to undergo a surgery to stop the bleeding. Luckily the bullet only scraped me and it missed the vital parts so I guess I’ll live.
I stayed in my room wasting sighs while my mom keeps an eye on me. She didn’t want to leave knowing I’ll sneak out on the first opportunity I get. And she’s not mistaken on that part. I really wanted to see Eunjin. Somehow it’s frustrating that my mom knows me too well.
I finally had the opportunity to leave the room when my mom had no choice but to go home. “I’ll be going back home for a while to get your things,” she said. She eyed me with suspicion and said, “Stay here. The doctor said you shouldn’t move a lot or else risk opening up your wound.”
“Neh,” I said.
She opened the door and was about to leave when she said again, “Don’t even try to sneak out. I told the nurses to keep an eye on you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Fine mom. Just go.”
When my mom left I went out of the room to look for Eunjin. Luckily nobody’s on the hallway and the nurses must be too busy to notice me. I half dragged myself because although I have the determination my body just wouldn’t obey me. My side that didn’t seem to want to cooperate was hurting like hell and I probably look like hell too. I’m sweating a lot and if I look in the mirror I would probably see a pale guy staring back at me.
I avoided any nurses and doctors because I was pretty sure they would force me to go back to my room with the current state I’m in. And asking Eunjin’s room number from the information desk will definitely be a bad idea either.
After having to search the entire left wing of the hospital, I finally found Eunjin's room. I knocked on the door and Eunjin's mum opened it. She frowned when she saw me.
“Annyeonghaseyo” I said my greetings while ignoring the obvious fact that she’s angry at me for reasons I didn’t know. She went out of the room and closed the door behind her. I tried to get a glimpse of Eunjin before she managed to close the door but I failed.
“Don’t go anywhere near my daughter again. I’m warning you”
“W-waeyo?” I asked. “Is Eunjin alright?”
“That doesn’t concern you anymore. So leave and don’t show your face here again.”
“Eomoni, jebal… I just want to see Eunjin for a while. I won’t be a bother I promise,“ I begged her again and again but she never listened. In the end I was forced to go back to my room bleeding after exerting myself too much.
I had to undergo another surgery and had quite a few additional stitches. Not to mention I got scolded by my mum for being so hardheaded. And worst, despite all the efforts I took just to see Eunjin, I didn’t get even a glimpse of her.
I thought it will never get any worse but I was wrong. I did everything they told me to do. I stayed in my room although I was itching to go outside and I followed the special diet they told me to take although there are so many foods that I wanted to eat. It was all because I wanted to get well soon so I could see Eunjin sooner.
I did get well faster than they expected. And of course after I got out of the hospital, the first thing I did was to look for Eunjin. I went to their house full of excitement thinking that after weeks of missing her, I can finally see her again. But all my hopes went down the drain when I found out that Eunjin’s family already moved to god-knows-where. I was already too late.
