Blades and band-aids

Dallas P.O.V.
The whole gang was at the Curtis house we were all sitting around waiting for Johnny so we could eat we always got together on Sundays and ate we did it before mr. and mrs. Curtis died and Darry kept it going afterwards. I was starting to get pretty worried Johnny was late by 30 minutes and he was barely ever late I just moved my head and looked out the window but nothing nobody I turned my head for what seemed like a minute but was actually 10 and the door swung open Johnny was outta breath. "S..s..s..sorry I'm late."

He said putting Ava down she sat down on the ground she had a little cut on her check and Johnny had a bigger one on his both fresh she stood back up and put her arms up and started to wine for johnny to pick her back up so he did Ava laid her head back on his shoulder we all looked at Johnny concerned. He looked a little surprised. "She just woke up from her nap."

He said rubbing her back. "You guys get into a blade fight or something."

Steve Said cocking an eyebrow. Johnny's eye got wide. "Shit."

He said covering his cut. "Johnny what happened."

Darry said getting up from his spot. "Nothing it's nothing, let's uh let eat."

He said while he started to walk into the kitchen Johnny was the worst at lying. We all stayed put and he stopped just before he got to the door way of the kitchen. "Aren't you guys hungry."

He said. "Starving."

Two-bit answered "but we aren't leaving until you tell us how you both got those cuts."

He said Johnny eye widened again. "Both!"

He said lifting Ava up she groaned and Johnny sighed. He sat her down on my lap and she curled closer to me. And Johnny came back with the rubbing alcohol and a princess band aid that's all Darry bought now because it seemed like Ava was getting hurt more then us and she loved the Disney Princess. "So Ava Baby how did this happen?"

I asked Ava cause I knew she would tell the truth without even realizing what Johnny was trying to do. "Oh daddy found johnny's switch blade and got mad at me and cut me and him."

She said. "Ava!"

Johnny said she jumped a little and looked back at Johnny. "Sorry Johnny."

She said giving him a kiss on his check. He smiled back and picked up a cloth. "You know the drill."

He said and Ava turned her head towards Ponyboy and Sodapop. She winced a little. "Sorry Baby."

Johnny said. "It's okay Johnny daddy should be the one apologizing."

She said Johnny picked up the band aid and put it on her check and she turned around to face him. "You know he'll never do that baby."

She shrugged "well then what you going to do." She hopped off my lap.

"Thanks, Johnny." She said kissing his check. Johnny picked her up.

"Anytime monkey." He said walking into the kitchen. We all just looked at each other I sighed.

"There old mans got a blade now." Pony said laying his back on the couch.

"They can't go home he'll kill'em." Soda said my stomach started to feel wired and I stared to fell sick at the though of Ava and Johnny dead but that's wasn't going to happen not as long as I'm around.

"Let's go eat." Darry said standing up.

"We will take about this after." We all got up and went into the kitchen and Johnny was grabbing a few plates from the top shelf and Ava was sitting there watching him. Swing her feet while they dangled off the edge of the chair. "Ava you couldn't help your brother out." Steve Said teasing her.

"I can't help him I'm 4 apples tall." She said with a smile.

"Your acting more and more like two-Bit everyday." Johnny said finally getting the plates down.

"Who's acting." Ava said shifting to her knees know. Johnny smiled and passed her a plate with not even a spoon full of mashed potatoes, a tiny bit of chicken and one piece of broccoli.

"You putting her on a diet or something." Two-bit Said piling the mashed potatoes on his plate.

"She won't even eat all this." Johnny said putting her plate down in front of her. We all started eating and talking about our days. "Guess what!"

Ava finally said excitedly "what?"

Pony said. "I'm going to my first day of big school tomorrow."

She said with a huge smile planted across her face. "No way!" Soda said "yup."

She said nodding. "You think johnny's going to cry leaving you."

Two-bit Said. "Umm yup."

She said picking a small piece off her chicken. "Hey."

Johnny said with a smile. "Your the baby of the gang."

Ava said moving off her knees and sitting on her but it was bad timing to say that sentence and move to her but cause when she did she could barely see over the table her eyes just made it past the table top. We all laughed. "Really,"

Johnny finally said "cause it looks like your the baby right now."

After supper was over and we all cleaned up except me and Ava. We were all sat on the couch when Johnny looked at the clock. "Shit." Johnny said getting up. "Watch your mouth." Ava said. "Sorry buggy but if you want to go to school tomorrow your going to have to go to bed know."

Ava groaned, "I'm not arguing with you Ava."

"Johnny do you really think you should be going home after you know."

Darry said. "Yeah dar will be fine and all our clothes are there."

Johnny said picking up Ava. "And blankly."

Ava said laying her head on johnny's shoulder. "Alright fine see ya tomorrow morning then."

I Said. "See yeah dalwy."

Ava said waving at me. I smiled and then they left out the door oh if only I could turn back time now I would have pinned Johnny down and wouldn't have let him leave. If only I knew what was going to happen next...
