Bending the truth

We walked in and Ava ran over to the bed. "Johnny?"

She said peaking her head over the mattress she was so small she could only get her eyes above it and she was standing on her tiptoes. Then the doctor sighed. "He hasn't come out of this coma like state yet."

He said looking at me. Ava turned around. "What's a coma?"

She said tilting her head like a confused puppy. He looked at me. "Uh johnny's just sleeping we don't want to wake him Okay."

She raised her eyebrows. "Okay." Then she looked at the doctor.

"When will be wake up?" The doctor went closer to her and then crouched down so he was at eye level with her.

"We don't know sweetie." He said

"well he's got to wake up tomorrow morning to take me to school."

She said looking at the doctor I smiled she was more concerned about school then Johnny I knew if she would understand she would be more concerned about Johnny. "He's not going to be able to take you to school tomorrow."

The doctor said with a smile. "I'll take you baby." I Said.

"Okay."

Then she tried pulling herself up onto johnny's bed and I lifted her up she squeezed in between his arm and his body and rested her head on his chest. Then I remembered that she was going to have a rough time falling asleep without Johnny and without her blanket. The doctor said that I could go and get my friends so I left to go get the gang so they could see Johnny. I walked out into the waiting room and they all jumped up. "Where's Ava."

Darry said. "Johnny's in a coma."

I said looking down at my feet so the couldn't see how sad I was. Then I felt someone hug me when I lifted my head I noticed it was pony which surprised me a lot I though it was going to be Sodapop. Then he backed away I didn't show that I liked when he was hugging me but I did it felt nice to feel someone you love arms holding you making you feel loved. no one ever hugged me.

"You guys want to go see him."

I Said we all walked down that long hall in silence. I stopped when we got to johnny's room. "This is it."

Everyone took a deep breath in and I open the door. There Johnny was with Ava all wrapped up in his arms I smiled she was fast asleep on Johnny. We all just kinda sat around Johnny's room for a bit until Pony said. "What's that on Ava's neck."

I raised and eyebrows. "What are you talking about." I said looking at her.

"See that shiny thing around her neck."

I got up and the whole gang followed me I tried picking it up with out her noticing or waking up but as soon as I put my hand on the shiny chain around her neck her head moved she looked up at us. "What?"

She said a little annoyed. "Sorry baby I didn't mean to wake you."

I Said trying to back away but the gang was to close to me. "It's okay dally."

She said shifting to her left side so she could see us better. "We were just tying to see what was around your neck."

Pony said pointing to her neck she raised her eyebrows and looked confused for a minute and then realized. "Oh you mean my locket." She said pulling it out from her shirt.

"Yeah who gave it to you?" Steve asked.

"Oh umm Johnny did for my birthday this year." She said

"see it opens." She opened it and there was a picture of her and Johnny and the other side was blank.

"See that's me and Johnny." She said pointing to it. I nodded my head.
