The whole worlds against her....

Ava laid there in my arms I felt like such a failure, I had failed her. You had one job you idiot, keep her safe that's all you had to do! I thought while I laid in that stupid hospital room doctors came in and out the gang weren't aloud back here only immediate family, apparently because of her age she was at more of a risk to not heal properly because she was 4 she wanted to run, she wanted to play with others. Unlike me, Ava was a little social butterfly I admired that about her she made friends so easily she was so sweet. Why couldn't my parents see that? Why couldn't they see how sweet my baby sister was, there own daughter....

"Johnny!"

Ava whined crying a little and squirming. "Yeah baby girl?"

I said quietly, pulling a smile trying to make her smile. "My bum hurts!"

She whined pulling at my shirt I was about to say something when Ava cut me off, I didn't mind though. "I have pacy?"

She asked quietly. "I think dally took your pacy and blanky can Johnny go see him and get it?"

I knew she wasn't gonna want me to leave her but, I wanted to tell the guys if they where still here that they could leave cause me and Ava where fine here now. "Ummm...."

Ava looked to the door and then back to me. "Come back?"

She said quietly. "Yeah, of course Ava I'll just go get your blanky and pacy and then I'll come back."

Ava thought about it for a minute. "Ava nothing bad is gonna happen to you I promise."

I said rubbing her shoulder, she held out her pinky. "Pinky promise?"

"Pinky promise."

I said smiling down at her before I kissed her fore head. "I'll be right back, pinky promise."

"Otay Johnny I luv you."

She said giggling,it was the first time in a long time I had heard Ava giggle like that I missed that, I missed hearing her tiny giggle so much, it was so soft and pure, like no matter what nothing could hurt it. "I love you to princess."

I said before I walked outta the door, Ava's room wasn't that far from the lobby and when I got there I was met with the gang they where all asleep on the waiting room chairs. Darry was asleep sitting up, Soda's legs where curled up and his head was on Darry's chest Darry had his arm wrapped tightly around him. Pony was asleep his head was on Darry's lap, Darry had his arm on his shoulder. Steve was asleep sitting up but his head was resting on two-bits shoulder, two-bit had fallen asleep sitting up and dally of course not caring had his head on one of twos legs his arms behind his head and his legs stretched out he had Ava's blanket on his chest.

I knew this whole thing really shook everyone up but they really didn't need to stay. I walked over to dally quietly, before a nurse stopped me. "The doctor said he's going to let visitors into your sisters room so if these boys would like to see her they can!"

I nodded my head. "Thanks."

I said quietly with a smile before I hit dally's leg. "Hey Dal, Hey wake up!"

I said quietly again. "Dally!"

I whisper shouted. "Umm?!"

Dally said sitting up, Hey um I need Ava's pacy and her blanket."

I said quietly, dally opened his eyes a wider and rubbed them he yawned and the sat up. "Oh yeah, sure thing."

Dally said grabbing her pacy outta his pocket and then passed me her blanket. "Thanks dal. Hey that nurse over there said you guys, can come see Ava if ya's want."
