Chapter 6: The Talk

Amy and Sonic stared at Shadow as he suddenly dashed out of town. Amy's heart started beating fast as Sonic turned at her with a deadly glare on his face. He was not happy, knowing that Shadow had been meeting up with his daughter for 3 months.

   "Why?" Sonic asked as he was shaking with fury, with his fists clenched to control his emotions. Amy stared at him, and took a deep breath. "I need to talk to you. In private." she calmly said, as she took her husband by the arm.

   "What about Tiny?" protested Sonic, as he tried but failed to pull away from her as they started to walk home. But Amy replied, "She needs some time alone to recover. I guarantee that she'll come back and explain everything to you when she does. She's probably somewhere dry, don't worry."

   Sonic stared at the sky, and saw that it was very cloudy, and thunder was being heard. He then skeptically looked at his wife.

"I don't know, if I should trust you on this one. After keeping a secret from me about Tiny privately meeting Shadow for 3 months? How can I be really sure you mean it, this time?"

"I'll explain everything I can! Now get inside. You don't want to get soaked."

   It was raining now, and they were in the living room, sitting on the couch. "Now that we're alone, can you finally explain WHAT JUST HAPPENED OUT THERE!?" Sonic shouted as he gestured outside, glaring at Amy. He then crossed his arms, and tapped his foot. Waiting for an explanation.

   Amy then looked at him into his eyes, and answered, "Clearly, Aurora just saved our lives from Shadow's wrath, and apparently he left town." Sonic then scratched his head and awkwardly looked at the floor. "I didn't mean for you put it that simply, but fine. Now tell me..."

   He then sat down beside her, and grabbed her hand. "Why would you keep this secret from me? Why would you let her go and meet him?"

   "Would you have let her go like that?"

   "Of course not! I would've stuck with her until the day she dies!"

   "Exactly! She came to me, because she knew that I would let her go! Sonic, she's had a crush on Shadow since she was 6. You've done your best to try to keep her mind off him, but her feelings only grew. Also, don't forget the fact that Cream-"

   Images of their childhood together, and Cream's death popped up in Amy's head, and she was suddenly silenced. She was a sweet and good friend, who was always there to support and listen to me, she thought as she started tearing up. Why did she have to die at such short notice? She then buried her face into her hands, and she felt her husband work his arms around her, and she hugged him, completely sobbing.

   "We all miss her, Ames. We all do. But she'll always remain in our hearts." Sonic said soothingly. After 2 minutes of comfort, Amy looked up at him with red puffed-up eyes, and said, "With Cream gone, our daughter has no friends that are around her age! I thought Shadow-"

   "How could Shadow be around her age! He's over 70 years old!"

   "But he looks like a teenager, and he's immortal! I thought that he would be able to get along with her. There's good in him, trust me! But, I never intended her to get into a relationship with him!"

   "How is she a complete jerk?"

   "She's not a jerk! I'm saying that she has the same traits as Shadow. Also, I keep on telling you on and on: Shadow can get on his good side at times as long as you don't mess with him!"

   "Name one trait they have in common."

   "Well, one, they're very competitive. They're both very swift like you, and they are both very sensitive. Shadow is a bit more edgy, but still. Don't you remember saving the world with Shadow a couple times? Especially what happened with Metal Sonic that one time?"

   "Yes, then he turned his back on us, and disappeared off. He even tried destroying the universe by hiding both the other dimension and our dimension Eggmen in a cave. Face it, Amy, that guy is pure trouble!"

   "If he's pure trouble then how come he hasn't harmed her for the past three months? From what she told me, he's been a real sweetheart. He even taught her how to skate!"

   Sonic then burst into laughter. "Are you saying that Tiny's got the hots for Shadow? Now I know you're making this up!"

   "I'm not. I mean, I had to give her a chance with him, because she wanted to meet him so badly. Also, he seems to grow an interest to her as well."

   "Did you know about him when you let her go?"

   "No. I just recognized the look on her face after she returned from her first run. Then I asked what boy did she meet, and then her description of Shadow gave me a ding that she finally met her long time crush."

   "What are we going to do with her, now? After you led her right into a dead end like that?"

   Amy sighed, and thought for a moment. "What if they make up?" Sonic scoffed and rolled his eyes with his arms crossed, "Yeah, right."

   "I said 'What if'!"

   "Fine. Let's hear another one of your 'plans' with Tiny."

   Amy grumbled. "My plans aren't dumb, and trust me. You're going to love this idea. How about on Aurora's next run, we all call a spy team to look after her. If they make up, we leave her alone. But if they don't, you may do what you need."

   Sonic sighed, and put his left hand on his face and elbow on his knee. After taking a deep breath, he groaned, "Fine. But this had better work."

   The door opened, and Amy and Sonic turn to see Aurora standing at the door, smiling. "Guess what? Something totally awesome happened!" exclaimed their daughter as she jumped up and down holding her hands behind her back.

   Sonic's head perked up as soon as he saw how happy she looked. He just stood still, as Amy nudged him with a smirk on her face. It clearly read, Hmm. I wonder what happened to make her happy, eh? After she ran to the forest on her own, sobbing?

   Sonic then strained up a fake smile on his face, and struggled to put up a convincing chuckle as he walked towards his daughter. "What happened that was so. Totally. Awesome, Tiny?" he said as he clapped his hands together just to get the stress off him.
