Chapter 39: The Outcome

"Did you get them? Eric asked Piers as he walked into the library. The hedgefox showed him the two gems. One a white chaos emerald and the other Shard's Phantom Ruby. "It was like taking candy from a baby." he chuckled.
"You're a genius, sire." Eric complimented.
Piers chuckled was he placed the chaos emerald and the phantom ruby on the floor with the rest of the power jewels.
"Shouldn't you be looking for someone? Like a flame haired wuss and his flowergirl, per se? That have escaped?!" Piers glared at his comrade, raising his nun- chucks.
"Cool it, man. Frost said she had it under control. Menace and Shadow are also continuing their search for the little twins. "And what about the ladies and the cryo chambers? Are they secured?"
"Your mother and the Destructix are after Sonic and that spy we've kidnapped. Do you suggest we-?"
"No, you imbecile! I want you to dispose of them! Thanks to that bat girl's abilities, we've come so far. But now that we have all that we need, she's of no use to us anymore."

Aurora, Shard and Sora were being watched by a copy of Silver. But they had a plan. At least Sora and Aurora did. Shard was all hopeless in this situation.
"Excuse me, sir?" Sora asked the guard. He glanced at her as if to say What do you want?
"Can I go to the restroom? I don't think I can hold it much longer." Sora continued. Venice (Silver copy) looked around to see if anyone else was nearby. But there weren't. "Can't you wait for just a few minutes?" Venice asked.
"If she says she can't hold it, then you have a mess to deal with on the king's newly waxed floors." Aurora explained.
"She tells the truth." Sora said.
Venice looked uncertain at first, but figuring that they were kidnappers not murderers, he used his psychokinesis to pick Sora up and they went out of the room. "Stay there, prisoners!" he ordered.
"Don't worry! We will..." Aurora trailed on with a fake frown. When Venice and Sora were completely out of sight, she finished her sentence by saying, "...totally break out of this snoozefest."
Shard was just skeptically looking at her, asking, "How? Neither of us know how to get out of Lyric's traps."
"Yeah, but you're still connected to your Phantom Ruby, aren't you?"
"When it's next door, yes. But it's too far for me to feel its presence. I don't feel like anything, either."
"Quit being like that. Not helping us."
Shard just scoffed and rolled her eyes. "We should trust Sora. If she says we're breaking out, then she means it." Aurora informed her.
"Just how do we do it, Princess?"
"I don't know." Aurora hopelessly said. She scanned the room for tools, but all she saw were two thrones, giant windows, and statues (including a Shadow statue with cute armor).
Squeak! Squeak!
"You hear something?" Shard asked.
Squeak...squea...squeak!
"Yeah!" Aurora's hopes were raised when she heard Itzy coming into the room! The little sprite was spritzing up and zooming his way to Aurora. He gave her face a tiny little hug as she giggled, saying, "Good to see you too, Itzy. You think you can get us out of this?"
Itzy nodded and engulfed himself inside Aurora's enerbeam chains, and she fell to the ground. Shard was only watching this whole scene, and she felt sad, and what was it? Regret?
Aurora gave Itzy a tiny high-five, then glanced at the meerkat who quickly looked away. She hesitated at first, but the pink hedgehog asked her little sprite, "Aren't you going to untie her, too?"
Itzy's eyes widened and a long squeak came out of him. He then went into a series of squeaks and his little body just swerved of lots of lightning bolts, and glared right at Shard when he was done.
I don't wanna know what he said. "I know she and her dad did bad things to you. But she's harmless-"
"Not there yet!"
"Well, sort've. But she's not going to hurt us. Please? She needs some light to embrace on her tender soul."
"I'm right here. Stop grossing me out."
Itzy didn't budge. He just crossed his arms, and closed his eyes. I know that look.
"I think you owe someone an apology, Toothpaste." Aurora said, grinning at the meerkat. "Because I can't convince him."
"I don't care. I'd rather hang here in my misery my whole life."
"She's sorry. She's just too proud to say it." Aurora told Itzy. He looked at Shard then at her and sighed. He went into Shard's enerchain and deactivated them.
She fell on her back, hurting her tail a bit. She groaned. Aurora heard footsteps, and Itzy let out a couple of bolts.
"Time to dash, guys!" Aurora grabbed Shard and dashed past Venice and Sora and Itzy electrocuted him, and set Sora free.
I'm coming for you Shadow! Just you wait!

Sonic, Rouge and little Aithne finally found Dr Eggman in a flying base above Moebius castle, and told him everything. They also got to see Ember and Rosebell!
   "How are we ever going to get home?" Rosebell spoke. "How do we do that? The place is crawling with guards, and that Piers dude is no joke!" Ember blabbered on as he held Aithne.
   "My brain is still recovering from mind control." Rouge added.
   "What happened to you guys?!" Sonic asked. "Where's your spirit? Tiny never gave up on you, and now you're going to give up on her? If there are two things she has taught me, they would be never waste your chili dogs, and family sticks together." Everyone looked at each other, then at Sonic. "Ember's really good at engineering. Maybe he can build something that can help us." Rosebell mentioned.
   "Hey, Rouge." Ember said. "Weren't you a thief at one time?"
   "Indeed I was." Rouge replied, smiling a little. "I could steal those gems for you."
   "And I'll handle Piers and Faker." Sonic added.
   "I'll search for my brother Eric." Rosebell said.
   "Now we're talking! What're we waiting for?"
   Rouge flew out, Ember stuck with the doctor, Rosebell held Aithne as she descended out of the sky using rocks to step her way down. Sonic just jumped out, and crashed into the ballroom. He found a black and red hedgehog.

That blue hedgehog again of all places! Shadow thought as he faced his biggest rival in Sonic history.

Rouge had taken back all the jewels (don't ask me how, she's the expert), even Sora's magic staff. Shadow was finally on the good side, he had seen the light. Blitz and Aster rode on a motorcycle and ran over Menace, then Piers before he could swipe Shadow. Then the thing exploded.
   Shadow was proud. Aurora went to check to see if they were okay. She was all like, "Are you two alright?" They were like, "We're fine" and they hugged it out. Ember and Rosebell came to help. They trapped Frost in a "rockslide" while Shadow and Sonic caught Piers on the floor and struggled to keep him on the floor. Itzy was cheering them on.
   Shard smashed her ruby to pieces, and she went to pursue a new life. The rest of the team Destructix had teams Sonic and Aurora cornered. Before they could move or spin dash anyone, Eric shot out his power-resistant ropes and tied everyone together. I mean real close together.
   "This may not be so bad, eh Aura?" Shadow flirted. Aurora blushed, and Sonic just snapped, "Back off my daughter, Faker."
   But everyone but Eric saw a big bubble of water hovering in the air. Itzy combined himself with it as he transformed into his third and final form. Water was lethal to sprites. "Itzy! No!" Aurora shouted with tears in her eyes.
   Eric looked above him just before the water splashed against the bad guys and they were zapped while they tried swimming out. The water then evaporated and there was no fighting.
   Some guys in weird metro suits (no not the ones from Mega Man) came into the room and one of them asked, "Alright. Who are we arresting, ma'am?"
   The Bliss and Marine pointed at everyone who was lying on the ground except for the ones tied up. "Cuff 'em all! They deserve some down time behind bars after what they've been through." Marine commanded.
   "You called the No Zone cops!?" Rouge asked.
   "No, I did." Sora replied. She was holding her staff, and those who were frozen were behind her. While the No Zone cops cuffed the villains, Sora and Bliss whipped up some magic to untie everyone. Aurora immediately went looking for Itzy. Shadow found him on the floor. Everyone gathered around the sprite. The little guy wasn't moving. And he was shrinking and glowing a bright blue.
   "Itzy?" Aurora whispered. The little guy didn't move. Aurora began to cry. A few others did, too. "Itzy, you were great...so great." Rosebell hugged Ember and cried.
   Shadow crossed his arms, and closed his eyes. This was sad. Bliss herself picked up the little sprite.
   "Itzy, if you do meet her...." Aurora's voice cracked. "...and Maria." Shadow's eyes popped open and looked at his love. "Tell them thank you. For being there for all of us. And Shadow."
   "HOLD IT!" Sora shouted. "Ember, do your thing."
   Ember then raised one of his hands and blew fire at Itzy. A few more seconds, and the sprite woke up. He looked at everyone, and squeaked out of happiness. He hugged Aurora and Sora.
   After a few moments of shock, everyone celebrated and they began to collect their treasures to get home.
   After the Boom people returned to their dimension in the middle of the Domination Slayers camp, Aurora gave Shadow a very big hug. "I've missed you. Still think you're better than me, Bladespeeder?" 
   "In all ways."
   "Yeah? Prove it."
   In that moment, Shadow dipped her over and gave her a kiss. She kissed back, heart fluttering. Everybody in camp just stared at them. Some taking pictures and others clapping.
   "Alright, that's enough!" Sonic pulled his daughter away from Shadow. The black hedgehog winked at his love and she giggled. Itzy swirled around Shadow and "smiled" at him.
   "My turn~" Rouge then pulled Knuckles into a kiss. The echidna was at first surprised, but then he began to enjoy it. More people in camp clapped and cheered for them.
   "This is gonna be a night to remember." Sally joked. Sonic chuckled. He turned to Aurora and said, "Tiny?"
   "Yes, Dad?"
   "You're mother was right. You do have an awesome destiny, and you've made so many friends. She and Cream would both be very proud."
   "You were right too. The chaos emeralds were too dangerous for any of us to wield, and it's not those or the rings in my jacket that can save worlds. It's the bonds of friendship, and integrity we each contain. I just lost focus on that for a little while." Aurora grinned at Shadow and he grinned back.
   "That was absolutely cheesy, Tiny!" Sonic patted her back.
   I should also mention that Sonic had finally allowed Shadow and Aurora to be together but only if he let her return home by sundown, and to not get serious.
   "You have my word. Faker."
   Up in the sky showed beautiful lights in the starry night. Color streaks glowing in the sky was a bonus to some.
