Chapter 10: Seeking Surprises

Aurora was suddenly in her hut as it slowly burned to ashes. She saw her mom lying on the floor, glancing at her. She held up her hand weakly, faintly whispering, "Rory...help...me...". Breathing heavily (mostly to fight tears), Aurora reached out and grabbed her hand, saying, "It's okay. I'm here." Crying, she hugged her mother, and said, "I won't let you leave me."

   When she lifted her head to pick up her mother, she saw that she was hugging Cream on a hospital bed. "Cream! Is that you?" Cream then softly lifted up her head, and whispered, "I'll miss you, Light. Remember that you're special....Don't forget that..." Aurora then held her best friend's head, trying to hold back her tears, saying, "Don't say that! I should've brought you here sooner! Please....please don't...go!" Aurora sobbed, as she grabbed Cream's hand.

   But then the room suddenly went dark, and Aurora looked around her, and all she could find was a cloaked figure facing her. "Don't you see, dove?" the figure whispered to her. Aurora then backed away, and pulled out her hammer, and held it tight in case for an attack. "They've already left you. And soon...he will leave you as well..." the figure finished.

   Shadow then appeared in front of her, lying on the ground. Aurora gasped, and looked at his eyes, and saw that his eyes were closed. Her heart feeling like breaking apart, she was sobbing like crazy, and she hugged him tight, dropping her hammer. The figure then withdrew nun-chucks, and charged towards the 2 hedgehogs. Filled with fury, Aurora glared at it with tear-filled eyes and quickly grabbed her hammer, and charged at the figure. She swung her hammer towards him, but he dodged it. He then laughed, and charged towards the unconsious Shadow. But Aurora used her spin dash to try to knock him away, but again the figure dodged her.

   Lividly and quickly, Aurora used a method that Shadow had taught her whenever she would "train": she dashed around the figure and before he could nun-chuck her out of his way again, she snuck behind his back, and tornado kicked him in the face. Causing him to fly backwards, he back-flipped back on his feet. 

   The figure then stood up, and laughed. Frustrated, Aurora dashed towards him, and grabbed his cloak. But nothing stood there. "What?" she gasped. All she heard in reply were evil laughs, and saying, "You'll never truly defeat me! I'll destroy everything you've ever loved! Your weak mother," Amy's death was then shot into Aurora's head. It felt like another punch in the stomach. "your beloved Shadow," Aurora then looked at Shadow, who was now getting up, groaning. "your aunts and uncles, your unborn cousin..." Aurora ran towards Shadow and helped him up, and glared above her.

   "...including your father, and everyone else you care about!" Aurora then stopped, and thought about everything being gone. Her best friend, her mother, her father, her aunts and uncles, and Shadow, gone. She then dropped to her knees, and cried even more into her hands. He's right. This is all my fault that everyone I care about is in huge danger! Even Shadow, and daddy.

   Suddenly there was a comforting hand touching her shoulder, and she looked at the person who was touching her. Shadow was completely conscious, and was sternly looking at her. Then, he looked ahead, grabbed a chaos emerald, and shouted, "CHAOS..." 

   Aurora then looked at Shadow, and grabbed him, saying, "Please Shadow! Don't!" But she just slipped through him, and he finished his command, shouting, "CONTROL!!!!" Then, he disappeared. Nowhere to be seen.

   "SHADOW!!!" Aurora stared at the old spot here he used to stand. A final tear then slipped through her eye lids, and she closed her eyes. "I will take good care of those I care about."

Aurora opened her eyes and found Shadow standing with his arms crossed facing the rising sun. She screamed, and jumped. "WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE?!" She nearly fell off the top of the tree she was resting, but she caught her balance.
