A Plastic World

We live in a plastic world

Where impossible standards have unfurled

Synthetic hips and body parts

Cannot surgically change our hearts

Why do we seem hot wired to see

-only things on the cover of a magazine?

The humans on billboards aren't real

There are flaws that they conceal

This world of airbrushed faces

Is worse than constricting corset laces

At least broken ribs can heal

Damaged emotions are a bigger deal

We criticise medieval times

Marrying children as young as nine

But look at all this social media

A predator's encyclopedia

Things posted on the Internet

Are as permanent as you can get

From this, modern society is spoon-fed

Please get this in your head:

No one is truly superlative

At least this is affirmative

Beauty from within is divine

Only this can be labeled 'sublime'
