Melted Glass

Hot and scorched my heart is raw

And bared before your eyes

'Tis such sweet flesh that burns

And elicits such starry cries

Tears of melted glass do slip

Across my silky, flaming cheeks.

Your velvet stare is soft and warm

But the heart no longer beats

A soul is meant to light the way

Not cast shadows across one's face

But a soul of midnight depth and weight

Lurks beneath your finer grace
