-"Good girl."- My dad says with the same old smirk on his face.
I try to hold back my tears while pinching my hand, it's one of the things my mum taught me. When I first came here I thought I wouldn't have to use that anymore, this was my new life, my new era. It's still hard to believe I'm coming back to my country to live with my abusive father again, when I was almost seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
-"One more thing, don't tell him." – My father adds and I nod.
I wasn't planning to do it. I wouldn't hurt him. He is my only hope and my only light in these dark moments.
-"When are we leaving?" – I ask, trying to control my shaky voice.
-"In two days. You better start packing all your things. " – My dad answers and I feel my legs getting weak.
-"Yes. Can I go now?" – I whisper. I feel like all my strength left my body. I'm sweating. I just want this to be a bad dream.
-"Go. But remember: you tell him, you die." – Sian speaks and I clench my jaw for the fifth time today.
Control yourself, y/n. One wrong move and you're dead.
-"Can I talk to you for a second, Sian?" – I ask and she smirks. My friend looks to my dad and he leaves. She stands there, in silence, waiting for me to speak. I try to find the strength to ask her why.
Why am I doing this to myself? Wouldn't it be best to just obey? To accept that I'm defeated.
-"Why?" – I keep my pain away. I want to understand why she did it. Why she betrayed me like this.
-"Oh, poor y/n. She doesn't know what's going on, does she?" – She gets closer to my face and I frown. What is she talking about? "Can't you see it? Chris loves me, y/n. I am not gonna let you live my life. This is my life you're living." – Sian smiles, but I can feel her pain through her gesture.
-"Sian, please." – I beg but she interrupts me.
-"No, y/n, no. I know what you are about to say. You won't stay away from him, even if you wanted to. You two are way too attached to each other. Shit!" – She screams while punching the wall. Her hand is bleeding and I touch her shoulder.
-"Let me help you-"– I try to calm her down but she rejects me.
-"No. It's too late now, y/n. Go." – Her voice breaks and I sigh.
-"I'm sorry." – Tears start to roll down my eyes and I leave.
I run down the street, still trembling. I still don't know where I am going. As soon as I left the place, it started raining. It's pouring and I can't see anything. Suddenly, someone takes my hand and I gasp.
-"Sorry Sian, I'm sorry." – I scream and the person hugs me.
-"It's ok now, I'm here." – Chan says and I let all out. My whole body is shaking and we just stand there, his hands going through my wet hair. "Let's go home, hmm?" – He adds and I nod, hugging him tighter.
I look behind Chris. Changbin is there with him. He smiles and waves his hand. I give him a small smile and I nod again.
It's difficult to understand everything that happened since the airport day. The first time I saw Changbin I was happier than ever yet here I am, trying to find light in the dark.
-"Not to be cheesy but now you have to admit you need this." – Chris takes off his jacket and shows it to me, raising his eyebrows.
-"Yes, please." – I laugh and take it. Even though the rain stopped, I am shivering.
-"That's what I like to hear." – He says, while taking my hand. "Let's go."
We walk down the street. Chan is still holding my hand and I'm wearing his jacket over my shoulders.
-"I'm Changbin, by the way. Nice to meet you." – The young boy says and I giggle.
-"I know. I'm y/n, nice to meet you too." – My heart doesn't feel that weak anymore, and I feel safe here with them.
We arrive at the dorms, making sure nobody followed us. They offered me towels and new clothes. I had to wear one of Chan's old shirt and even if it was too big for me, I was satisfied with it.
I sat in the couch and Chris gave me a cup of hot chocolate.
-"Thank you." – I smiled and tried to make my hands warm with it.
-"No problem." – He smiled and I felt my whole body starting to unfreeze. "Do you wanna talk about it?" – He sat next to me, in the exact same position as we were just a few hours ago.
My heart stopped beating for a second. All of this made me forget why I am truly here. It made me forget that I have to lie to him in order to save him and his job. I sighed and opened my mouth but I couldn't speak. I wanted to protect him with my life if I had to, but I couldn't just lie to him.
-"You don't have to." – He said, looking at me in the eyes.
-"No, it's ok. He just wanted to talk to me about my new life here. He is happy I'm here now, he just got mad because I left without his consent, you know." – I take a sip from my cup and he does it too.
-"So, everything's ok?" – He asks and I look at him.
No.
-"Yes. He is coming back home in a few days and I'm staying here." – I try my best to fake a smile and it seems to convince him.
-"Good, uhh. I think we have something that still remains to be done." – He gets closer to me and before I can answer, his lips crash into mine.
