"What? You didn't think Crystal would know?" Scott McCall voiced from the passenger seat of the Camaro.
I leaned over, and let out a laugh. I straightened and wiped off my forehead. "I should have known that she was driving." I referred to Crystal's bad driving skills.
"Oh, baloney," Crystal huffed her yellow eyes rolled sky-ward. "Get in."
Scott stepped out and pulled his seat forward, reveling Adrian Black in the backseat.
"Just like old times, brother," Adrian yelled, jumping out of the back and pulling me into a hug.
"Last I heard, you were working for the Resistance," I slapped him on the back, and pulled way.
"I have to help my best friend if he's in trouble, they understand," Adrian shrugged. They piled in; Adrian, Benny, Milo, and Tallica.
"You should have called me," Scott rumbled.
"I didn't want you and Crystal to get involved. Your lives had just settled down," I looked at Tallica, my expression soft.
"We knew when Melanie was called away," Scott said, studying him carefully.
"I figured you would," I slid in next to Tallica.
Scott sat in his seat, and looked at Crystal, who smiled at him. "Looks like Hugh has found his mate."
"It's about time," was all she said as she floored it in the direction of the safe house. Of course, she knew about my mate and where the safe house is. She is a seer.
(Tallica)
I marveled at the willingness of Hugh's friends to come to our aid. The only people who have ever done that for me is, well, my sisters, and Milo. Hugh's hand clasped mine, and I looked over at his warm brown eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yea, but Chike will never stop coming after me. We know that now," I stated, seeing Adrian Black out of the corner of my eye. I have noticed, since I got into the car, that he was a little freaked by my eyes. Like now, he couldn't stop staring at them.
"We'll come up with something," Hugh squeezed my hand, and I gave him a small smile.
"I don't want anyone to get hurt over me," I thought of Arabella back at the house.
"Your sister is tough, she'll make it out all right. Besides, Zaire is there, and he's good at killing people," he joked, and I laughed.
"Everything will work out," he brushed my hair back.
"God," Adrian groaned, leaning his head against the seat. "You two are as bad as Scott and Crystal."
"Don't worry," Crystal Mason looked in the rear-view mirror at me. "His time's coming."
"I hope not," muttered a cross, silver-eyed male.
I liked her...Crystal. She had gumption...determination. I studied her profile. She was very pretty, with short auburn hair, golden eyes, tan skin, and an exotic appearance. She seemed very wise to only be my age. Scott McCall was a tall, hunk of muscle with black hair and cornflower eyes that were stunning. He loved Crystal. That was obvious. He loved her very much. Adrian Black was a hard nut to crack. He seemed out-going and fun. But had something on his mind, he is very good at hiding it though.
We pulled into the gravel driveway to a small yet cute house. It was off grid, and secluded. No human eye would see anything out here. They got out and pulled the seats back. Everyone in the back shoved each other out. Hugh and I walked hand in hand to the door. Scott and Crystal followed with the rest following.
"There's no door handle," Adrian pointed out the obvious, but threw up his hands when everyone turned to look at him.
"It's voice activated," I stepped up the door and leaned near the peephole with Hugh next to me. "Princess Tallica Bliss of Kallica Kingdom."
It popped and Hugh pulled me back quickly, but the door swung open. I looked at Hugh, and he led the way. A wave of dizziness fell over me and I wavered on my feet. I stumbled back from the doorway, Scott catching me from falling.
"Whoa," he rumbled as Hugh rushed to my side.
"Tallica, what is is?" Hugh grabbed my wrist and saw that the watch had spiked. "Wolfsbane."
I nodded as Scott set me on my feet, holding my left arm while Hugh held my right.
"I thought Arabella got rid of that," Hugh looked concerned.
"It will take a couple days for the spell to be reversed," I raised my left hand to my forehead, Scott releasing my arm.
"Adrian, Benny, Milo, I need you to get all of the wolfsbane out of the house and put it around the house," Hugh ordered, helping me sit on the seat.
"And hurry," Crystal added, looking worried.
"What is it, babe?" Scott fingered her wrist and the action drew my attention to her scars. It was only on her right arm, they lined the inside of her arm looking like burns. But she didn't have them covered.
"They are coming," her gaze reflected scenes that played out for all of public to see. "They will be here in an hour, tops." She shook her head, and Scott rubbed her neck with one hand looking at Hugh by my side.
"Okay, they have been all cleaned out," Adrian ran out. Hugh helped me stand and get up the stairs. He led me to the couch, sitting beside me with Crystal on the other side.
"I have a plan," Hugh looked around the room. "But I need your help."
