Chapter 37

"Ack! YOU BASTARD!! Wait!!" Romano gasped trying to get his brother back into his view as the other walked off.

Spain stopped him from falling, "Whoa!! No, Romano! I'll try going down the ropes first, and you just wait here, okay?"

Romano frowned, "Can you really use this ladder? I can't see the bottom very well..."

"I think it's okay? Though I can't see it very well, either. The boss will go down first, so wait here just a moment!" Spain shifted to start going down the ladder.

Which both were unaware that it was half burned.

Spain climbed down the burnt rope ladder. Grinning softly about the fact that he decided to go before Romano in order to protect him. His eyes closed in his moment of pride, he didn't notice that the ladder was burnt. Green eyes snapped open as his foot didn't hit another part of the ladder but instead he felt his body plummet down into the dark depths.

Romano's worried voice called out to Spain, "Spain?! Are you okay?!"

Spain sat up and rubbed his head in pain, "Ugh... ow... Oh, no, the ropes are burnt halfway down. I hadn't noticed... Ooh, ow."

"H-hey!!"

Spain looked up, "Romano."

"Yeah?"

Spain "I'm so glad Ita is all right."

Romano didn't say anything out loud, and merely let out a hum as a response, "...Hn."

Spain looked around, "I'll see if I can find something of use instead of a ladder. Wait just a moment."

Romano frowned and looked to the side, "All right. Don't take too long, or I'll get down this, anyway-A-and... b-be careful..."

Spain grinned, "Oh! Are you worried about me? That makes me so happy! I'll be right back, so just wait there."

Spain left the hall, made his way out of the room, and headed toward the room with the other nations.

~Mean While~

Japan sighed, "It's no use!! My sword can't cut the bars."

(Y/n) leaned back on her hands while Prussia tried to free her foot.

Russia shook his head, "We can't just use brute strength... Too bad. I don't know what he was going to do, but we have to go after him quickly."

Canada frowned, "But we can't get out unless someone opens it from the outside."

England rolled his eyes, "'Someone'- Everyone is in here! With the exception of (Y/n)! You all walked right into his fucking trap!"

"Yeah, well I'm not completely in the cell, but I'm not 100% out of the cell," (Y/n) muttered.

America glared at England, "You did, too, you know... What are we going to do? If no one shows up-"

Just then a new person walked into the room causing everyone in the room to turn their head to see.

"Whoa!! Wh-what is this?! What are you all doing?!"

"Someone showed up..." China gaped in shock.

Spain smiled in amusement, "Huh? What?! A zoo?! A world zoo?! Do not touch or feed the nations?!" 

(Y/n) let out a snort, "Excuse me, sir, I'm not a nation!"

Prussia smiled softly as he kept helping (Y/n) in the process of freeing her foot.

France blinked, "I can't believe it... Is this for real!?"

Spain snapped out of his state of amusement, "Oh, I just remembered! B the way, don't you guys have a ladder or anything like that? Roma-"

Germany slammed his hands against the cell bars, "Spain!!! Open this cell!!!!"

Spain almost jumped out of his skin, his green eyes wide, "Ack...! Wh-what? What do you mean? I mean, didn't Ita come this way?" 

Japan glanced to the side, "We'll explain the situation later!! Just open this cell first!! Please!!"

~Else Where~

Italy quickly made his way out of the basement, and swiftly got up the stairs.

Italy frowned and thought to himself out loud, "First I'll look for another metal piece I remember where it's hidden...and if I look for them one by one, maybe I'll remember more."

Italy kept moving, take quick turns until he got to the room he was looking for.

Italy looked around the room, "Was it here?" He let out a dry forced laugh, "I've finally got everyone together. I'll definitely get them to escape..." He frowned, "Or else I'll be confined to a world where I'm all alone..." He thought about it again, "Then again, even though I tried to be at least a little reliable, it looks like they couldn't trust me..." His lip trembled slightly, "If I went back... they wouldn't get mad at me...would they? They'd say sorry, and they'd yell at me a lot and scold me, and then... They'd... hug me, and I'd hug them... and I'd also say I'm sorry... All this time... Really all this time... I... with them... from here..."

While the hazel-eyed male was lost in thought he didn't notice that the giant killer grey creature, that had been named Steve by two females. With a sudden loud noise, Italy turned around, "Ts--!!"

Italy backs away and the creature stepped closer. His eyes teared up out of reflex, "Oh... Ger-ma-" He stopped, "Heh... I guess I should've guessed."

Before Steve could attack him, something went along past his head, glancing over his shoulder his eyes were greeted with a hooded figure.

Italy nodded when he got a soft smile and was motioned to keep quiet.

"I guess we'll be working together."

The figure smiled once more, moving to stand next to him, "Seems so."
