Weather the Storm

Chapter 7

Marzia POV

I woke up slowly. Why was the bed so hard? It must be really cloudy today...it's so dark. But then, my vision focused, and I remembered where I was. Felix was still sleeping. I got up, and noticed a water bottle near the door. Right...we were denied food. Great. I had been to tense yesterday, but now I stood up and took in my surroundings. There was broken glass everywhere, and only then did I realize the pain in my limbs, from pieces of glass that had embedded themselves when I broke the window. However, I didn't want to touch them just yet. However, if I didn't move at least some of this glass, there'd be more where that came from. Worse, Felix could get hurt more, and he had already suffered so much. I carefully began picking up the larger pieces, piling them in one corner of the room.

As I was finishing up, picking up the tiny pieces, I heard Felix groan. I ran over to him.

"Are you okay?" I asked immediately, then mentally reprimanded myself. OF COURSE he wasn't okay, after being used as a human punching bag.

"I'm...fine..." He wheezed, holding his side. I gently moved his hand away and felt the area. It looked bruised, and the rib had probably been broken. The thought filled me with another surge of rage. How could Dan do this? After a moment, Felix stopped wheezing and pulled himself together.

"I'm fine..." He said again, but I could tell he was in pain.

"Are you okay?" Felix asked. I quickly moved my arms to cover my body as much as possible. I didn't want him to worry when he was in this state. However, as much as I tried to not give him any idea that Dan had abused me, I couldn't suppress a grimace. His eyes widened and he moved my arms away.

"Oh Marzia! You...that monster!! I'm going to kill him!" Felix started swearing in Swedish.

"Felix, please! It's not that bad, really. You need to stay calm. I don't know how bad you're hurt." He cast one more vengeful glare at the door, and looked at me. Suddenly, all the emotions I had kept inside me the whole time burst through. I began to cry hysterically, tears flowing freely down my cheeks. Felix looked shocked for a moment, but the his eyes softened and he hugged me.

"Aw, baby..." He murmured softly, as I hugged him tightly.

"That moment...when...I saw you fall...I...was so scared...I lost you...for a moment..." I rasped out, in between loud, gasping intakes of breath.

"Shhhhhh...it's okay."

"I'm so hungry...oh Felix, what are we going to do?" I whimpered.

"I don't know yet, Marzia, but we'll figure something out," he said, gently lifting my head up. I felt his lips touch mine lightly. I moved one hand up and stroked his hair. Suddenly, the door crashed open. We broke apart, though reluctantly. Dan strode in.

"Lovebirds," he sneered, "I'm not done with the boy yet!" Suddenly, Dan lifted Felix up with one hand.

"Dan! No! Please..." I screeched.

"Shut up! I've had enough of you!" He roared, and slapped me, sending me flying. I could feel pain spreading through my cheek.

"No! Marzia!" Felix yelled.

"Silence!" He dragged Felix out of the room. Suddenly, 3 guards had clapped me in chains and carried me out after him. Dan threw Felix into a chair in another room, with similar features. He dragged me into the chair beside him. The only difference there was was that a dial on a pedestal stood in the center of the room.

"Alright, lovebirds, let's play a game. I'm going to whip your darling boyfriend, but either of you can stop it for a few moments by yelling stop. At that point, I will shock you, Sweetcakes, with an electric current. At the 9th voltage, you will pass out. Ready?" He snarled at us. Pulling a leather whip out of his pocket, I closed my eyes as he raised it high in the air.

"Argh!" I heard Felix cry out as it hit his back. After a few more strokes, I couldn't bear to hear him in pain anymore.

"Stop!" I yelled.

"Marzia! No!"

"Oh? A stop was requested?" Dan grinned evilly, then crossed the room to the dial.

"Marzia, I forbid you to say stop anymore. I can't see you get hurt," Felix sounded out, groaning in pain. Dan pressed the red button, and I felt pain, immense pain like I had never felt before. I screamed, and then it stopped.

"Let's continue," Dan said smugly.

Every 4 strokes, I told him to stop. The pain got greater and greater, until we reached the ninth time. I looked at Felix one more time, and I could see that numerous strokes criss-crossed his back.

"Okay, lovebirds, that's it for today. Now, Sweetcakes, your final punishment."

As painful as it was before, the current this time was unbearable. I screeched in pain. It seemed to last forever, until at last, mercifully, everything went black.

Felix POV

"Marzia! No!!!!" I could see her writhing in her chair, desperate. Her screams cut into my soul, as electricity arced up her body. Suddenly, she went limp, and the current stopped. I bit my lip as the pain in my back increased, as hot blood ran down me. I felt something cool and I sighed out.

"Can't let you die just yet, boy."

We were dragged to yet another room, this one with a wide door for pulling people in and out. We were thrown roughly on the floor. The moment the door closed, I crawled over to Marzia. It was very slow going, seeing as I could hardly move. It didn't matter how I felt, I just had to get to Marzia.

"Marzia...oh Marzia...why..." I murmured, carefully picking her up. She didn't move, and I could see burn marks on her. I buried my face in her hair, and held her until she woke up.

Marzia POV

The world slowly began to swim back to me. I realized that something was chaining me. I panicked, writhing, until I heard Felix's voice.

"Shhh...Marzia, it's just me." I opened my eyes. I could still feel the pain from the electric shocks.

"Oh Marzia, why did you do that?"

"Because...I love you...Felix."

"I love you too," I said, and lightly touched my lips to hers.
