Weather the Storm
Chapter 8
Marzia POV
I woke up to the third day of our imprisonment. I was beginning to get seriously hungry, and we didn't have NEARLY enough water.
"Felix...we need to get out of here."
"I know...and I think I have a plan." He pointed to the wide doors through which we had been dragged in, and lowered his voice.
"Next time Dan comes in, we run for it. You duck under his left arm, I'll duck under his right. Next, across the hall, I noticed some garbage cans. We grab the lids so to protect ourselves when they shoot and run for the exit."
"Do you remember where the exit is?"
"I have a pretty good idea."
"I hope you're not wrong..." I said worriedly.
"Don't worry. Once we get out, we're home free." he answered, caressing my tangled hair gently.
3 hours later...
Felix POV
I could hear footsteps.
"Marzia!" I hissed, gently nudging her awake. She leapt up, and we crept towards the door. As the door swung open, we both dived forward.
"What the..." I heard Dan's confused voice behind me. I pointed to the garbage cans and we both snatched a lid up.
"Run!" I cried, and we took off.
"Get them!" I could hear more pounding footsteps, as guards rushed after us.
"Marzia! Keep your shield close!" she nodded. As we ran, I could hear bullets cracking the floor, ceiling, and our shields. It was a miracle that we weren't hit. Just as we shoved the doors open, and dashed into the sunlight, I had a cold feeling, like that saying about someone walking on your grave.
Dan POV
I smiled and raised my one-shot gun. I couldn't miss. I took aim at Felix's chest, and squeezed the trigger. At the last second, Marzia turned around and saw me. She veered towards Felix.
Felix POV
"Felix!" I heard Marzia cry out. The feeling was gone, but instead of being right beside me she was behind me.
"Marzia! Are you okay?"
"Yes, let's just keep running!" she gasped, and we sprinted. My car was still parked outside. We jumped in, and I floored the accelerator. It was a good ten minutes before we were home, even though I drove like a madman. Marzia tried the door to our house. I realized I'd left it unlocked, and would normally get a rebuke, but this time it was a lucky coincidence. Marzia fumbled for the phone and called 911. She briefly explained what happened. The lady on the other hand wasted no time, as we were already in the news.
5 hours later...
Marzia POV
Dan had finally been arrested, as well as his gang. We would probably be mobbed tomorrow, but we had a little bit of peace. I realized how bad we both looked. Felix's face was a bloody mess, and his back was clearly still bothering him. I gasped suddenly, feeling a sharp pain in my chest. I was probably tired from all that running. Felix was sitting on the bed, with his head in his hands. I dragged myself over to him.
"Felix...I can't believe we're finally safe..."
"I called 911, they said they'll send an emergency ambulance to pick us up soon..." he sighed.
"Okay..."
"Marzia, I'm so happy you're okay, and we're both alive..." I shut my eyes and leaned forward. I had no words. I just wanted to communicate my love to him.
Felix POV
I leaned forward to meet her kiss. I hugged her, and she hugged me back, until suddenly she pulled away, wheezing.
"Marzia, are you okay?"
"I'm..." she gasped for breath. She was turning blue.
"Marzia!" I grabbed the phone just as she toppled over towards the floor. I barely caught her, but being still weak, I only slightly stopped her momentum, and she crashed to the floor, unconscious.
I dialed 911 and yelled into the phone for an ambulance immediately. I leaned over Marzia. Her lips were blue.
"Marzia!" I called her name in vain. "Marzia, you can't leave me now..."
Tears spilled from my eyes. I heard the siren outside, and watched as she was loaded into the ambulance. I jumped in beside her.
"Oh Marzia...please be alright..." I whispered.
A/N: Will she be okay?! She might die....dun dun dunnnnnnnn. Anyway, if you liked, hit that big old star button! Sorry for the short chapter!
Brofist!
