Weather the Storm

Chapter 9

Felix POV

I lay in my hospital bed, waiting for the results. They had done a quick X-ray and taken Marzia to the emergency surgery room. A nurse had taken me to a room with two beds, and told me that the second one was for Marzia if she recovered. I didn't like the "if". I felt impatient. The nurse had cleaned me up and bandaged my back, gasping at the slowly healing gashes. It was boring and tiring lying here in bed listlessly, doing nothing while my beloved Marzia was in between worlds. The door suddenly opened. I refrained from jumping up from my bed, for fear of opening the cuts again. The doctor wheeled Marzia in and placed her on the bed carefully. He proceeded to walk over to me.

"I'm Doctor Layne. Pleased to meet you," he tried to say lightly as he shook my hand. "Well, the good news is that she's alive, and she should wake up soon. We extracted a bullet from her sternum. It missed her heart by only 2 inches." I gasped. That's why Marzia had jumped behind me...and I had felt that weird feeling. She must've seen Dan shoot...and it would've hit my heart if it wasn't for her...I felt such an overwhelming feeling of love and adoration to Marzia. How could I have thought she left me? This was all my fault. The doctor patted my knee gently and left the room. I heard Marzia groan, and I walked over to her.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"I...think...what happened?" I didn't want to answer that question just yet. I leaned over and gently hugged her.

"Did they bandage you up?" she nodded, then sat up and kissed me. I kissed her back, leaning over the arms of the bed. She giggled, which evolved into hysterical laughter for no reason at all. I laughed with her, after all we'd been through, it felt good to be normal. Suddenly, she put a hand to her chest. Blood was seeping through her nightgown.

"Felix!" she cried out. I panicked. The doctor had mentioned she'd already lost a lot of blood. I hit the emergency button. Before I knew it, Marzia was back in a dead faint. I felt for her heartbeat. Nothing. I leaned completely over her, placing my air to her blood soaked chest. Nothing.

"MARZIA!!!!" I screamed, just a team of doctors burst in the room, as well as a few nurses. Some people grabbed me and dragged me out of the room. The last thing I saw was a nurse saying, "Clear."

And a doctor zapping Marzia.

3 hours later....

I woke up groggily. "Marzia?" I asked.

"She's alive. She'svery lucky, you know. She was dead for 2 minutes."

I sighed in relief. A few days at the hospital, and we'd finally be home.

A/N: No notes except for from now on, it's FLUFF TIME!
