Chapter 12

The Next Day.

I finish cleaning the house, when the doorbell rings. I take a deep breath, and open the door.

There stands Caleb, and My Parents. I begin to cry, and hug them. Then I notice that Caleb and My Parents have suitcases. Crap.

"How Long will you be staying?" I ask. "One Week." They say. "Okay. Here's your room." I lead them to the guest room, which has two beds.

One for Caleb, one for my parents. I then walk down the hallway, and take Mom into Maddie's room. Tobias took Dad and Caleb to Hunter's room, and then we will meet in the middle and head for Olivia's room.

I walk into Maddie's room, and find her laying on her stomach, curled in a ball, sucking her thumb. I smile, and grab the family camera. I take a photo of her, and then hand her to mom. I take a photo of that, too.

We bring Maddie into Olivia's room, and do the same thing with Hunter. Caleb is crying. "I'm an Uncle!" He says, happily.

My mom volunteers to make dinner. She chops vegetables, and makes a salad.

We sit together at the table, and I stand up, and run to get the kids. I grab Hunter's playpen, and put all of them in it. I drag the playpen into the kitchen, and hand them all a bottle.

I then continue to eat. "So Mom, how's it been in Abnegation?" I ask. "Well, it's been fine. But let's not keep this conversation on me. How have you been?" She says. Abnegation Through and Through.

"Oh I've been great. I've had a few Leader meetings, and we're waiting for the initiates to come in a few months. I'm in a hard place when it comes to babysitting, though." I say.

"We can't show our relationship, let alone let the initiates know that we had kids together." I add, and Tobias nods. "Regulation." He says.

"Well, we could babysit if you need us to." My mom says, and I smile. "Thanks." I say. "So, Caleb, how have you been?" I add. "Good. I was Helping Jeanine develop serums for aptitude testing, before she was shot to death. Now I'm Erudite Leader. She wanted to kill Divergents. I swore to never do that. That's it." He says shrugging.

I drop my fork when he says this. "Caleb, you remember that shooting that happened almost a year ago in Erudite?" I ask.

He nods his head. "Caleb. I killed Jeanine. She kidnapped me, and wanted to experiment on me. And kill me. Because I'm Divergent." I say.

"Oh My God. She never told me that she kidnapped my sister! I would have killed her before, then." he says.

"Let's Talk about something Good now." My dad suggests, and we nod.

I wake up to a knock on our bedroom door. I get up, and open it. I see Caleb in his blue and white striped pajamas, with matching slippers and hat.

He has dark circles under his eyes. I hear moans coming from down the hall, and ask "What's Wrong?" "Well," Caleb starts, "mom and dad are sleeping as in sex." He says, and I gasp.

I didn't know you could have sex at their age. "Can I sleep in here on your floor?" He asks. "Mmmhmm." I say.

I walk over to Tobias. "Four, Honey wake up!" I say. He shoots up because I called him Four.

When he sees Caleb, he understands. Caleb tells him the whole story. He laughs. We finally fall asleep about an hour later.
