Chapter 45

I wake up the next morning, and decide to have some coffee out on the terrace.

I carefully and slowly get up and out of the bed, and then walk to the kitchen. I then proceed to pick out a small coffee package, and put in our self-serve coffee pot.

I wait for the coffee to finish being made, watching the coffee dripping from the top like water from a faucet. When it finally finishes, I pour it into a black mug, and put in some sugar, and vanilla creamer.

I love this Vanilla creamer so much! After putting the creamer into my coffee, I empty the coffee pot, and put the trash into our large trash bin at the front of the kitchen, by the doorway to walk out to the living room.

I put the trash away while I walk out to the terrace. I then walk out, and sit down at our table, in one of our comfortable chairs. From our terrace, I can see The Hub, the silver metal bean sculpture by Erudite, and the Amity forests.

I sit for awhile, at least until I hear a coffee mug hit the table, on the seat next to me. That's when Tobias plops his fat butt down next to me.

"Good Morning," I say while sipping my coffee, not looking in his direction.

He grunts. That's all he does. I turn to look in his direction, and see that his eyes are bloodshot, and tear tracks make their way down his face. "What's wrong? What happened?" I ask.

"Well," he says.

Tobias's Point Of View.

I stand in our city during the middle of the night. I stand in a dark alleyway.

It's completely silent, and I have a gun slung around my shoulder. I have a pistol in my hand, and I see about four other Dauntless members standing ahead of me.

They point guns to the heads of four people. When I get a closer look, I figure out the identities of who they are.

Tris, Olivia, Hunter, and Maddie. The weird thing is: they're grown up. They're 16. "No!" I scream, trying to get the attention of the Dauntless that loom over my family.

"Tobias! Help!" Tris screams.

A sense of Dread, Dust, and Death hangs in the air as I run as fast as I can to the Dauntless that stand about fifty yards in front of me.

When I reach them, I notice that everyone in my family has their hands and feet tied together. I look at Maddie, who now can barely breathe out a silent "Help,"

At this, the man with the gun to her head turns around, and I can see his face. It's not even really a face. His eyes are black holes, and his mouth has a snake for a tongue.

I scream, and realize that the gun is gone from my hand, and the gun from my back is gone, too. The snake in the mans mouth bites my neck, and I fall.

I thrash around on the ground, and see my children looking at me sadly, and in disappointment of what their father has become.

I hear a gunshot, and see Hunter collapse to the ground next to me, and feel a hot liquid seep into my clothes. No. This isn't happening. I hear another gunshot, and another, and another.

Soon, Olivia's body, and Maddie's body lie next to me, and their blood seeps through all of my clothing. Then I look at Tris. "You could have helped me!" Se screams. "Now look. Our Children are dead! You're a coward. You're just like..." She turns her head away from me. "...Marcus!" She says quietly.

Then, one of the Dauntless men shoot her. Her body cripples, and falls on top of me. Then, that's when all four of the Dauntless men have their guns pointed at me.

The snakes in their mouths attack my body, biting it. I screech in pain, and thrash around on the ground, occasionally kicking the dead bodies that lie around me.

That's when the gunshots go off, and pain takes over my body. I see an even larger pool of blood lying around me, and then I wake up, screaming.

Tris's Point Of View.

Tobias tells me about his dream.

Then, he turns away from me, and whispers, the tears pouring down his face, "You said I was just like Marcus."

"WHAT?!?" I scream. He is immediately taken aback, and looks scared.

I get up, and slap him across his face. Hurt immediately shows in his dark blue eyes. "Tobias." I say, gripping his face, which makes him look like a fish, "YOU. ARE. NOT. ANYTHING. LIKE. MARCUS. EATON!" I yell.

"You said it yourself. I couldn't help you, and you said that I was just like Marcus!" He says.

"Okay," I start.

"Oh. So it's okay that I'm like Marcus!?" He screeches.

"Let me finish. Chill your Picante sauce!" I shout.

"I was going to say: okay. I don't know what influence you're under, but I never said that!" I shout.

He runs inside, to Olivia's room, and picks her up. He hugs her tight, and she begins to wail. "Da? Cwy?" She asks.

I take Olivia from his grasp. He looks hurt, but you could never tell, because it was gone before it ever appeared.

"You aren't like Marcus. Go back to bed, and get some rest." I say.

He smiles, and hugs me.

Later that morning, I'm cleaning the house, and I can hear Tobias's voice coming from Maddie's room.

"And the little duckling finally found his way. The end!" He says, then tickles Maddie. "Duckee?" She asks.

Tobias walks across the room, and grabs her favorite stuffed duck. He hands it to her, and she hugs it. He ruffles her hair, and says; "Goodnight my little duckling."

By now, I'm silently crying. when Tobias sees me, he walks over to me. "What's wrong?" He asks. "And you think you're like Marcus." I say, smiling and kissing him.

As I'm laying in bed that night, I turn into my side and look at Tobias.

"I love you," he says.

"I love you, too." I say.

"I love you three." He says, smirking.

"I love you four!" I say.

I turn over. Then, I look at him, before rolling back to see his whole face.

"I love you five." I say.

"I love you six!" He says.

"I know!" I say.

And we fall asleep just like that.
