Cale's POV
I have already finished doing my excel file and now I just have to make my slide show presentation for my meeting scheduled on Thursday. But I have been staring blankly at my laptop for every other minute and I haven't started anything. I couldn't concentrate and knowing that Iris' was just outside of my office in her little office makes it even harder for me to focus on work.
I knew it was rude of me to bring up about our past but I just don't know how to deal with it. It was hard for me to actually face the fact that the beautiful girl outside my office, doing my papers is my ex girlfriend and that I have hurt her once.
I sat back on my swivel chair and rubbed the temples of my forehead. She's my secretary and we'll definitely be working most of the time together so we should rather be in good terms. And how do I even do that? I know I've offended her and knowing Iris, she could be hard headed too.
Approach her. My mind tells me.
I looked at my wrist watch, it's 12:05. I should probably invite her out to lunch and talk things out but just going out as workmates. Ofcourse.
So I stood up from my seat and went out of my office. I was already thinking of a good restaurant and thinking of how to ask her but when I made it to her office, she wasn't there, her bag wasn't there too. I saw her paper works almost done, if she were here I would have probably tell her a good job but then she's not. Where is she?
"Tina, have you seen Iris? My secretary." I questioned her.
"Oh, she went to lunch with Vince and the others, sir." She said as she tried to hide the half empty box of donuts.
Went to lunch? With Vince?
"How long have she been out?"
"Just 5 minutes, sir."
So she had friends now. If I would've only known I wouldn't have thought of asking her to lunch in the first place. "When she returns, tell her to come to my office."
"Yes, sir." Tina said probably feeling enthused that she could go back and eat donuts.
"And Tina," I paused. "No eating during office hours."
I walked back to my office and slammed the door behind me.
Forget about talking to her.
I decided to just order foods at McDonald's. I really didn't have any food in mind so I just ordered some chicken and pasta and that double bun burger that I didn't know what they call.
I kept tapping my pen over my table waiting for Iris to appear on my door. I looked at the wall clock and it's already 12:43. Any minute now. Actually, I don't know why I want her in my office. I'm just so pissed and annoyed. I looked over to my side and saw a pile of papers. This would do.
Shortly, I heard a knock on my door. My door opened and came in Iris.
"Tina said you wanted to see me, sir." She spoke.
"Yeah, I need you to organize these papers." I pointed on my right. "They're in random orders and I need them to be in order according to date." I said without looking at her.
I continued to type something on my laptop while in the corner of my eye, I saw her taking away the papers and finally leaving me in my office without a single word.
Iris' POV
My lunch with my new friends was okay. I met Vince's friends and they're all lovely. I was already familiar with Megan, she was there during my interview. She was nice and very talkative and beautiful too. Her hair was blonde, she was inches shorter than me but she liked wearing heels so it gives her a few inches tall. She loves red lipstick, she's not into sports and she's in love with Zac Efron.
Then there's Archie. He works at the Finance department and they call him geek because he's into everything except sports. He wears glasses and was bald and admitted that he's gay. I love gays, I have a few gay friends and they're awesome, they're straightforward but all nice.
Then we have Kim. She has this long dark hair that was insanely straight. She was equally as beautiful as Megan but Kim was more of the unconcervative type. She was actually wearing a body con dress that was so fit it made me wonder how she can move in it. She's into partying and doesn't settle on one guy. Yep, that's what she said. Well, I won't judge her, she's a nice girl anyway.
And lastly, Vince. He's a tall and lean man with his hair swiped on the side. He rewlly looks like Clark Kent, he even has this cleft chin. Like Archie, he's in the Finance department but he's more like the head officer. He chooses not to be called geek because he plays basketball and he loves working out. Well, that explains the toned physique.
I can say that this can be my circle of friends here at Thompson's. They're all different in a way but they all fit in. And this is where I fit in, I can say. They're all really nice.
They have all been working at Thompson's for almost two years except for Megan who had only been working for a couple of weeks. We weren't able to talk more because we only have one hour break and were not allowed to be late.
I arrived at my office and Tina, the big woman who seemed so nice told me that Cale's looking for me and that he wants me in his office. Maybe he has some more papers for me to work on.
I knocked twice and finally opened the door and there was Cale, eyebrows furrowed, all focused on his laptop typing something that I have no idea about.
"Tina said you wanted to see me, sir." I said. Still trying to get used calling him sir. It sounded funny calling him that.
"Yeah, I need you to organize these papers. They're in random order and I need them to be in order according to date." He said without even looking at me.
Without a word I took the papers from his table and exited his office.
I should be able to finish organizing these papers and get the hell out of here and prepare for another rude day tomorrow.
Ugh!
