Cale's POV

"I think hiring you was a mistake." I said as I tried to keep a straight face, looking at Iris who was looking back at me probably with disbelief.

"I beg your pardon?"

Actually, I don't know exactly why I'm telling her this. She has been doing so well at work, she does all the paperworks, and does all her reports on time. And the business meeting earlier was a success.

If only Pierce weren't an asshole then I won't probably be acting like this. I don't know, I cant even understand it myself.

"So?" Iris spoke waiting for me to answer.

I really don't have any answer for her so i just took my jacket and was ready to leave but then Iris had to shut the door and I was trapped.

"Ms. Payton-"

"Don't Ms. Payton me, Cale. You won't be telling me that hiring me was a mistake because I know very well to myself that I've done nothing wrong ever since I started working here. I did everything you said, didn't I? I did your papers, the reports, I even submitted a day early so that I won't have to hear any complains from you, but then this? You'll be telling on my face that hiring me was a mistake?"

Her voice didn't resemble fear nor pleading. She's pissed.

"Let's just talk about this some other time."

"No, Cale. I want answers. You have been nothing but grumpy ever since I started working here. I thought you said to be decent and professional? Is being nice so hard for you lately? I don't see any professionalism in there, you're acting like bear with a sore tooth."

I was just standing there listening to every word she said and realize how unfair I have been to her all this time. She had done nothing wrong and maybe I am being unprofessional. No, I am umprofessional.

"Maybe getting hired at your company really is a mistake after all."

Ouch.

Iris finally opened the door and carefully took the tray of mugs and walked away. In a different situation, I could've helped her carry that tray and we could have a bit of chitchat of how great the meeting turned out but of course we're not going to have that kind of situation because I'm an idiot.

I was left there in the empty room thinking to myself of why I have been so hard on her. Indeed, my behavior was unacceptable. But how can i even tell her that David Pierce wants her in exchange of the business proposal? She's my employee and ofcourse I should be looking after her. I was just so angry with what Pierce had told me earlier and I wasn't able to control my darn mouth. I didn't mean to say that to her.

I took my coat and finally went out of the Conference room and searched for Iris. This time I'll have the decency to apologize to her and explain why. I have to find her right away or she might be doing a resignation letter right now.

I finally made it to her office but she wasn't there.

I turned to Tina who was currently lip synching on to some Beyonce song, I think it's Listen because of the insanely high notes.
