It'd been almost 70 years, and Steve still believed that she looked as beautiful as the day he first saw her.

She had aged so incredibly graciously - not that he'd expect any less - and he'd only wished that he had more time with her.

With a withered hand, Peggy reached over, cupping Steve's face. For seventy years she had longed to see his face again, and wasn't it worth the wait. As his eyes shone with tears refusing to spill, hers sparkled with a level of warmth only she could provide.

When Steve's larger, smoother hand reached up to cover hers, Peggy saw a stray tear finally slip down his nose as he leant forward over her, and softly kissed her forehead. Smile slipping ever so slightly, a teasing smile on her lips, Peggy winked at Steve.

"You missed."

With a breathy chuckle, Steve leant forward once more, afraid that this would be the last kiss he ever had with her, afraid it would be too much of a goodbye, too much of a I'm sorry.

Gently pulling away after a soft minute, eyes still closed, Peggy whispered to Steve. "Stop being sorry for yourself, for me, and live your life."

With the whispered words, she slipped away into a peaceful slumber, never to remember the 12th kiss they had shared since Steve had been released from the ice.
