Whiskey is the life of man
Whiskey, Johnny!
O, whiskey is the life of man
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

The slurred singing echoing from every corner of the ship brought a feeling to Captain Phillip Carlyle unlike any other.

O, I drink whiskey when I can
Whiskey, Johnny!
Whiskey from an old tin can
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

The wind was whipping through the sails and his hair as the strands nipped at his cheeks as he held the wheel of The Humbug steady, not an island nor ship in sight. Nothing but clear, blue Caribbean water as far as the eye could see.

Whiskey gave me a broken nose!
Whiskey, Johnny!
Whiskey made me pawn my clothes
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

That one phrase of the shanty always made him chuckle. Not a man who could call himself a pirate could ever say that they had never been drunk enough to start a fight - or lose his clothes in a bet.

Whiskey drove me around Cape Horn
Whiskey, Johnny!
It was many a month when I was gone
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

All the voices faded away, except for one, as the Captain's gaze drifted to the man perched precariously upon the bowsprit.

I thought I heard the old man say:
Whiskey, Johnny!
I'll treat my crew in a decent way
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

The wind was against him, carrying the man's eerie voice away for only the seabirds to hear. The way Phineas was poised on the bowsprit, his skin almost as tan as the wood of the ship from months upon months of work in the sun and on the sea, Phillip could have mistook him to be the figurehead mounted on the bow.

A glass of grog for every man!
Whiskey, Johnny!
And a bottle for the shanty Man
Whiskey for my Johnny O!

Phillip may have been the Captain, but Phineas was the Prince of The Humbug.
