Snow lay with her head on my chest whilst I caressed her arms and back. Snow made that moment special for us both and rather enjoyable. But just watching her sleep was a beautifl sight. She looked so peaceful without a worry on her face, I stroked her cheek and then let my own eyes become heavy and fall in the same state of relaxation as Snow.
I awoke to only myself in bed as Snow was not beside me. I turned to where she last rested and in her place was a note. I rubbed my eyes and sat myself up. I reached out and grabbed the note and held it to my face.
'Dear Laurence, thank you for bringing life back to me last night, I will never forget it. But I must leave, for my dream can never be fore filled. I've returned to dad to live my normal life again without disturbing or hurting others. As much as this hurts to say, please don't come see me again, you need to forget about me so I won't interrupt your life again in sadness. I'm sorry it has to be like this but this is the way my life has to be. Forgive me. Love Snow.' As soon as I read those words, I jumped out of bed and immediately dressed, still wearing yesterdays eye makeup and ran down the corridor straight to the stairs. I sat on the banister and slid down them and began to run straight towards the door. As I got half way, Drew came out of the kitchen with a big bowl of popcorn, heading towards the home cinema. I ran straight into him, making him drop his bowl of popcorn all over the floor.
"Aw damn." I heard Drew say disappointingly as I ran on towards the front door. I had to get to Snow's house, I didn't care that she told me not to, I couldn't let her have her old life back with him. I couldn't. I barged out the front door, jumped off the path and ran down, onto the streets.
I finally arrived at the top of the hill to Snow's house, almost out of breath because of the constant running. I decided to take a slow approach towards the house, as I didn't know if her dad was home or not. I made my way closer to house until I saw white hair standing in the front yard, hanging up laundry. I rushed straight over to the picket fence, almost falling into them as I stopped to a holt.
"Snow!" I exclaimed. She let out a slight scream, dropped the laundry and spun around to face me. And that's when my heart sank. Snow wore a short summer dress and just from there I could now see her thighs, which were once completely clear, covered in red cuts on both sides. It made it worse when I looked up to her face to see that she had two black eyes now and a split lip with bruises all over her neck. "Snow, what the hell's happened?!" I suddenly panicked.
"Laurence! What are you doing here? Didn't you get my note?" she said again, returning the quiet voice.
"Yes I did read it, but now I'm glad I made the choice to come and see you, what's happened? Why has he done this to you?" I explained.
"Laurence, you need to go, he'll hear you!" exclaimed Snow, dropping the laundry and pointing me away.
"I don't care, come with me now, I can't leave you here!" I cried. Just as Snow was about to open her mouth, the front door opened and out came the Cardinal. Snow's face filled with fear. He stepped out and noticed me.
"What the fuck are you doing here boy?" he growled at me. I straightened myself up to look big, even though he was ten times the size of me, and spoke.
"I'm taking Snow away, so you can't hurt her anymore." I said boldly. I could feel Snow's eyes upon me.
"Oh really?" started the Cardinal, he grabbed Snow by the arm, making her gasp and dragged her along side him, through the gate. "You think you're gonna get your dirty hands on my daughter?"
"Let her go, she doesn't deserve this life. Especially when you're not even her dad." I spoke out. Cardinal Deäff released Snow's arm, shoving her aside and walked straight up to me.
"How do you know this?" he growled in my face.
"Myself and Snow went to her home town and found out everything about her. Her real parents, the riots, you taking her in and abusing her." I spoke.
"But guess where her parents are now?" said the Cardinal giving a sinister smile. I didn't answer, just for him to continue. "They're six feet under and I know who put them there." I saw Snow spark to attention in the corner of my eye.
"W-who put them there?" whimpered Snow from behind him. Cardinal Deäff spun around to find her terrified face, staring.
"The man that stands before you." he spoke, out stretching his arms. Snow gasped and I suddenly felt the air turn cold. "The riots were a perfect time for me to murder them and take you in as my own."
"Why did you want me?" whimpered Snow as her voice became shaky.
"I thought when you were of age, I should marry you. You're beauty and you're powers were a great source of showing off and making money, but only once married." Mine and Snow's jaws were locked open from the horrible truth. I could feel cold droplets fall upon my face as I knew that Snow's powers were taking over the air. Cardinal Deäff walked over to Snow and towered over her trembling body. "Now, get back inside." he demanded. Snow started to fall a little thicker from the sky and tiny ice tears fell down Snow's cheek.
"No! You're not taking her away from me again, I came here to save her!" I shouted out to him, winds growing louder. He spun around and locked his fingers around Snow's arm. Snow started panicking and crying even more.
"You will not take what's mine!" bellowed Cardinal Deäff.
"Laurence, please just go! I don't want him so hurt you!" cried Snow over the top of the winds. A blizzard started to form around the three us, blurring my sight slightly.
"Let me save you!" I yelled out to Snow. The Cardinal gave me a sinister smile and shook his head as he slowly backed away with Snow stuck to his side. The thick snow started to take over my sight as they faded away. "Let me save you!" I cried out again, raising one hand to shield my eyes from the blizzard. They were gone from my sight. I knew I couldn't save her by myself, I needed my friends. I turned around and I could still see the faint opening to the forest where I came from. I took a deep breath in and forced myself through the blizzard, determined to gather the others. I was not going to give up on Snow, I couldn't.
