"It is time for us to leave our camp and head to Black Reef Bunker. There we'll meet the state head of operations." Chet said.
"Why Black Reef, it is hundreds of miles away from here and what guaranties they will receive us arms opened?" A older man in the group said.
"Black Reef Bunker was a Second World War military facility and now refurbished to withstand long duration isolation. It is autonomous for over five years. It is part of our operatives network. There we'll meet General Furlong, he'll grant us shelter and protection in the war to come. An encounter with Pemakan forces will be our biggest threat, because at the moment, we have no compatible weapons to repel them. So failure is a possibility. You might ask: why so advanced creatures can do so much harm to other living beings? We have naive expectations about intelligence and logical thinking, only the will to live and spread matters. It's true to any living form to date."
An uproar surrounded the camp's meeting hall.
"But what do we know for sure about the Pemakan invaders?" Someone said.
"Pemakan, or man-eaters, desires to transform our planet in a farm of livestock, with us humanity as the meat providers. However, do not fool yourself, they're smart and don't want our extinction, only exploitation, for nutritional value, and raw materials for their structures. But to achieve that, they'll control us as species like we do with other animals. Contrary to our expectations but in consonance with our deepest fears and own experience, invasion will follow as we encounter other intelligent species, threatening our lives with violence and submission." Chet said.
Some people had a hard time deserting the camp. They spent most of their lives there, it was the only known place to call home. The group prepared for departure after some other less important discussions.
